Does anyone have a trick for making the old canvas sunshades used on diesels back in the late 40's / early 50's. I think they were used mostly on switchers.

    Thanks

Well, for canvas in general I think I've seen painted tissue paper as a way to go.
Wouldn't cost much to try :)

Some the old timers also used silk for a more durable canvas. I imagine that some of the newer synthetics would work also.

The cardboard idea has me thinking.... maybe you could peel a layer off corrugated cardboard with a blade and thin it out to the desired consitency with sandpaper, then trim to fit? Like the tissue, it wouldn't cost much to try.

    Best Regards,
