I keep peeking on this thread. It just keeps getting better and better.

Your scenery keeps getting better, are you adding more layers of ground foam as you go?

As pete mentioned roads aren't black. On my layout I paint them black and then use lighter colored chalk to weather them up.

I see your mains are close to the edges of your layout. I would put some kind of guard rail around the perimeter where you have track. I haven't lost anything yet, but I came close one night and it scared the crap out of me. It always seems like your favorite locos is the one to take the plunge too.

    Thanks!!

It is coming along nicely.... The layout is far from finished and the roads are still being weathered slowly as I get around to it. If you go back to the previous pictures compared with the ones posted today you'll see the roads are being lightened up. I still have a lot more to do though. I do have a plan for the edges but I's still going over as to how it will be done.

The side closest to the wall has about 3" in some areas from the side and the side closest to the beer bottles (lol) has a raised section of terrain so it looks like it is below grade level that prevents anything from falling. You can't really see it in the pics but its is about as half as high as a loco.

There is a small siding on the outside of the tunnel by the stream crossing that is on the edge and i have lost a few cars from my own stupidity.... that is actually temporary and will be semi relocated... it will be used for an addition. Right now its really just there for looks.

Do you have a track plan handy?
    Love to see it.

Once upon a time I did..... it has changed so much in the course of this thing. I just drew this up. It shows the overall track plan but it isn't 100% precise

Get rid of the concrete walls with cheap, quick and easy back drops, and you'll be surprised at how much better your efforts will look.

    Soup,

Have no fear about the backdrops. Just start simple.

Mine are 1/4" masonite painted with blue latex paint. Not a single cloud anywhere. When needed, I'll add horizon features to the backdrop on printed/painted paper or styrene that can be removed.

Pete is right. It will make a huge difference. See my Rail Images for examples.
