Hey guys,I've got this pair of LifeLike SD-7s that are really great runners and look just awsome to my old eyeballs BUT they can't pull diddley squat. Anybody got any ideas on how to bulk them up abit? It really is shameful when one little SW-9 can out put two SD-7s.:O ------------------ Catt!
Catt- I know this same problem! I used to have a Lifelike SD7 and it couldn't pull anything. It might have something to do with the A1A (Center axle unpowered) configuration. I looked under the "hood" *grin* and there is no space for extra weight (i think). In the end, I sold them back to the hobby shop and got my money back for a pair of SW1200s! Well, I hope that helped you, and it's too bad that we both...and maybe even more, suffered this same problem. NSBrakeman Gives a Green Light to Innovations Southern Railway
Here's an idea: Wait for the new drives! ------------------ RAILROADING-TO-THE-MAX, Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Style! Brent Tidaback
I got four of the SD7's and all are great runners. But you might have the same problem that I experienced with a LifeLike FA2. Check the gear towers especially the worm. If the worm does not engage the worm gear the spur gears will place resistence on the axle gears and the wheels won't turn or if they do turn it will be at a great loss in pulling power. Make sure the worm engages the worm gear and run the engine with the shell off to be sure the motor turns the drive shaft and the drive shaft turns the worm. Let me know if that does the trick.
Geez Brent, you are soooooooooo helpful.Actually I tried it on a "NEW" drive. I put one of them on a ATLAS?KATO SD-9 mech. The only p[roblem was that it fit so tight the flywheels couldn't turn. The damn things run so good,I just wish they could pull. ------------------ Catt!

We have three, we picked them up for peanuts and they will not pull much, so we run them all together on not too heavy trains. If the wheels are kept clean, they run well. ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com
