Thanks for the interest guys, even with the glacially slow progress. Blame my new work location upping my commute to 2.5 hours each way! :(

anyway here's all I go done this weekend, the anticlimber. Since the weather was good I worked more on my 1:1 kit, a 1975 Land Rover. ;)

I remember seeing the plans for this locomotive in an old RMC and thinking it was a neat prototype. It's fun to follow along on your progress, certainly helping me get fired up for my own projects...as time allows, I'm looking forward to seeing the updates.

Looking good! Love the 'L' window....a true SP trademark! How did you do the anti-climber? Detail part? Or shaped styrene?
    Enjoying the progress photos. :)

    Thanks guys.

The anticlimber is a piece of strip styrene (0.040 x 0.040) with a small rectangle of very thin styrene glued on the front. This was then filed to give the correct profile.

Making the most of the extra day off...

I've added a larger cabinet behind the cab (from a GP38-2), added new jacking points from an SD50 in the correct location and altered the sill to reflect the prototype.

I've extended sill and readded the rear pilot. I've also extended the ducting to the correct point above the rear truck.

I built the rear anticlimber from laminated styreen strip and sheet and glued two styrene strips to the sides of the rear pilot to widen it.

Next jobs are adding the rear jacking pads and altering the rear steps to look like the tunnel motor ones.

Before adding the rear jacking pads, which might get broken off with all the handling still required, I decided to try and get this project a little further along by converting the rear steps to something closer to the TM ones. Here's the result alongside a the TM I used as reference.

One of the steps ( the first one below the level of the walkway) is made from a black coated styrene sheet that is white when cut, hence why it looks a bit wierd.

Sadly no more progress, work has kept me really busy for most of the last 18 months (6 hour per day commutes or 70+ hour weeks). Train modelling has had to take a back seat and while I've done a little military modelling and I think a couple of boxcars, I no longer have much free time to really get stuck into projects.

Hopefully things will improve soon, although who knows if I'll get much done in 2010 and I'm going to be in Canada for half of it (and half of 2011) so won't have much modelling gear with me. Hopefully I'll be out with my camera capturing the real thing! :)

I will get this done eventually though! :) Thanks for staying interested.
