What is V line?

    This is a V line covered hopper. What is the story of V line?

    Now gone. They did these hoppers, the Baldwin "Shark" diesel shells, and I cannot remember if there was anything else.

    Someone else now has their molds. Is it DeLuxe Innovations? Or?

    Correct. George Johnsen at DI wanted to do injection molds and V Line was the first he tried. (He later had is own boxcar mold made.) If you have one of the DI covered hoppers like this, you can see how much finer the step details are than the V Line casting. I think the rest of the car is about the same. Gold Medal Models makes a detail set for the V Line covered hoppers.

    I do have one of the early special run editions done via BLW. A couple of recent DI are on my wish list. But have yet to acquire them for comparison.
