I noticed on my way to work last night the first movement on the UP mainline ALL week. It made my day!! And as i type this i can hear the horns blowing. I am assuming that the bridge in Cedar Rapids got repaired or the rerouted everything. Im just glad to see and hear the trains again!!!!!!
That IS great news! Especially in this time of shortages regarding food and fuel...the last thing railroads need are delays due to flooding
The water must be receeding just about as fast as it came up. Good news but now the clean up. There is going to be mud all over everything.
From what I had been reading here and elsewhere that train traffic and useage was down. Well on my recent trip to Albuquerque NM that the train traffic during the daylight hours was hot and heavy. I 10 mirrors the UP Mainline for a ways. That was indeed good news for the industry and our hobby.:tb-biggrin:
revenue train there was a total of four trains, one west bound coal and the other three where mixed freight from food to fuel and coil cars.
That's good news. Seems like they're getting going a bit faster than originally predicted. Boxcab E50
I mayhave spoke to soon, i did some chores around the house and then went train watching where i usually go and nothing. but it could just be a small downtime or something. For awhile it was almost non-stop traffic now its back to the way it was. So Box cab where do i get a dancin bannana?
I certainly hope the trains are resuming soon. This flood has been something awful for you Iowans. My heart goes out to all those affected. That dancing banana always catches my eye when I try and send a serious response to Boxcab. I think Ken did that on purpose. I think he's actually hypnotizing us with it. Adam
The dancing banana is from an older series of emoticons we had a few years ago. I like it, as the sight is just plain silly. Good for a smile! Boxcab E50
Got word that both east/west main's are now operating thru Iowa. Now THAT is good news. The river forecast for the Cedar River in C.R. has it going down below flood stage by Friday. Even down to 9ft by the end of the weekend.
yes that is great news. as i headed to work tonight i left earlier to watch trains and saw alot of east bound mixed freight and a few west bound empty coal trains, that there is a great sight to see!! Now, for the dancing bananna, i love it. it reminds me of the Family Guy episode where Brian the dog, dresses up in a bananna suit and starts singing "Its peaunt butter jelly time". A bit off topic but funny nonetheless. Thanks! Now, to the flooding sitiuation, I live on the river but Clinton has minor flood damage thanks to the steel and concrete barrier wall, but not the same for the quad citys and west and south of Clinton. I wanted to thank the person for the kind condolences that was posted here, as i am sure the affected cities and people will rebuild stronger than before. Again, thank you everyone for the kind thoughts of Iowa and its flood vicitims.
Iowa back open. I tell you one thing. Trains are rolling again. Here in Omaha Train traffic was HOT. Here are just a few Photos. Three from Omaha. Omaha.
