As one of the people who helped put on the 2004 show in Chantilly I know the massive amount of work the KSONS put into the 2008 DCE show. I wanted to start a thank you thread for all the hard work they, and others put into the show. It's a massive undertaking to put on a show as large as DCE. It takes a great team to get everyone coordinated, in place at the right time, troubleshoot, and, most importantly, get everyone back out quickly and easily. I'm sure we all grumbled about something at some point, but overall I know I and my loop had a fantastic time and much of that was due to the excellent preparation and on-site work. I spoke to one KSONS member who wasn't even planning on running a train, as it was his job to make the show run. That's dedication. My hats off to the KSONS, and I hope to work with them at many more NTrack gatherings. I hope everyone else had a good time, and is looking forward to the next set up, be it a 10x13, or a 700 module monster! Of course, I also want to thank World's Greatest Hobbies and The N Scale Collector; I'm an NTraker myself so I only saw parts of both of those aspects of the show, but the bits I did see I really enjoyed. I hope everyone had a safe trip home, and see you next time!
I'm with Leo.....a BIG THANK YOU to everyone involved. It was alot of fun and wow....what a fantastic layout! My hats off to all.
I would also like to thank the KSONS group.I would also like to thank all the clubs in my loop, Tex-N , Mississippi Valley N-scalers , Baltimore Area N-Trak , and the Orlando N Scalers. What a great group of guys to run trains with and also the other 50 groups who came through on the red line and visited my 6' home for the weekend(My Module).
Thank you one and all, to the many KSONS local team, and to the *many volunteers*, to the many NTrak clubs..... all who gave so much of their time and energy and travel to make this convention so memorable. From all of us that attended in person, and from all of us out on the Internet, we cannot say Thank You deeply enough.
My wife and I both had a great time even though we only got to see the WGH portion. My wife got some great ideasa for scenery while marveling at some of the finely crafted modules on display. The work that went into preparation and set up was certainly a monumental task. The N-trak setup was certainly the largest I have ever seen. Hats off to KSONS and all the participants for all their efforts.
Man!! What A Weekend!! This coming weekend is going to to be depressing after having been at this show. Hey, when's the next one?? I can not begin to thank all of the people who made this show happen. It was a blast and I want more ( 2B read as Mega Compliment). Another thanks have to go out to all the attendees. Without them, the convention, show, clinics and gathering in rooms/bars/hallways/tracksides/etc would have been fun, but not this great. Everyone there played a huge part in making this one of the best weekends I ever had. . . . . . .
It was a well run and fun show. The modules and the owners were fantastic. Team work made it happen Jerry
Thank you to all involved. I see many threads about great things being done in N scale and after going to the show I decided to switch from HO to N. I even picked up a Kato GS4 at a bargain price! I was a member of KSONS for a while and it looks like I'll have to join again.
First let me say I wish I could have been there saturday and sunday. But duty calls and I had to get home. But what a great time! And I never knew the scope that NTRAK has. That layout was beyond my imagination! Also intriguing was T Trak. I met some really great people at the show. Many from Trainboard. Several recognized me from the C&O hat I was wearing. Its a treat to actually meet the folks you see posting here. I was a bit stunned by the size of the swap meet. The auction was fun. They kept it lively and there were even a few bargains to be had. And hats off to the city of Loiusville and their skywalks and friendly people. Also thanks to the guys who let me use their module to run my Chessie Steam Special. Also want to say there were some impressive displays in the contest. Hope to find out who the winners were. Also scored some cool stuff at the swap meet and spent way too much money! And lastly thanks to my wife for letting me drag her along and letting me spend all that money!!
Traincat, You were one of the great attractions at the DCE. The 80-100 people in your clinic on "Brass Kits are easy and don't require soldering", and the many that stopped by your Room Sales in the evening (including me), were treated to your warm personality and your incredible kits. I believe most of us had no idea that we, too, using your kits, could make models that look like this: So thanks, Bob, for being there. And thanks to the many others like Bob who brought and shared their talent, expertise, friendliness, modules, and so much more.
I agree. Great work by all involved. Thanks to KSONS, the various vendors, presenters, and everyone who sacrificed their time to make it a success for all. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. Chad
Just got back to Wa. 4750 mile round trip!! A Big THANKS to everyone that stopped by and enjoyed our modules. Special thanks to Paul and the Layout guys from KSONS. What a fantastic job of pulling off a massive layout and historic event!! Meeting and running trains with the guys from Denver was the highlight, what a great bunch of N Trakers. The absolute best, though, was meeting so many of the guys from trainboard, JD, Pete, Leo, John, Allen, Russ, and several others. This will be hard to top!!
