    Welcome to TrainBoard!

Digitrax.com: Index to Application Notes, Manuals and Instructions is the link for Digitrax manuals in .pdf format.

Take a look at the Digitrax Decoder Manual linked on that page. CV03 - CV06 deal with acceleration and velocity. More complex settings regarding throttle response start on page 52.

    Best!

Can you be more descriptive than "it doesn't run very well?"

The engine starts with a very high velocity (I've already changed CV 3-6) and the speed is imbalanced.

Christian, I think you may have benn using the wrong CV's. CV 2=start rate,CV 5= max voltage, CV 6= mid range. Look in the small manual that comes with the decoder, there is a chart showing some suggestions. They do give good results. So if I were you I would do a reset on the decoder back to factory settings and start over. Don't be afraid to play with these CV's to get what you want. You can always reset.

The fact that speed is "imbalanced" (I assume that means forward and reverse speeds are not consistent) makes me think there could be a mechanical problem. It is not unusual for a mechanism to bind in one direction more than the other if it gets out of alignment.

Did it run smoothly on DC before you converted it? Did you disassemble the mechanism when you installed the decoder? Were there any parts left over <G>?

Sorry, my English is not the best. "Imbalanced" means that the engine is jerking at lower speed in both directions and it's not running smoothly. On DC, everything was ok.

Christian, it sounds more like a mechanical problem, perhaps arising from reassembly. CV02 which governs starting speed may help with the high starting velocity but not the jerky running.

Check to make sure that your track, wheels and pickups are absolutely clean. DCC equipped locos can be very, very picky.

I've changed CV 55-57 and I think its better now. Can anyone say me waht values he takes for this CV's? Sorry, thats one of my first Digitrax Decoders and I need a bit experience with it.

CV's 55-57 have to do with scaleable speed stabilization. I know little about this but the info on this page may be useful, starting with the 2nd unnumbered page. http://www.digitrax.com/ftp/dh142.pdf
