I just read on an update from the NMRA convention that Kato is going to put out an N scale SD70ACe! Also that the BNSF "Swoosh" is going to be out on a SD70MAC. Anybody there and have any details?!

Thankfully(!), I've backdated my modeling era to exclude most of this stuff.

    NorsemanJack,

I did.... in between wiping the drool off my chin from thinking about another SD70MAC and the SD70ACe's. :tb-biggrin: I may need to add one of those too... as a shop switcher or something.

Ditto. And I think that the ACE is an ugly engine. But those heritage paint schemes...

Any speculation on whether/how they figured out how to light those nearly separate cab lights and numberboards?

Just found out about these at my train shop and have them pre-ordered already along with the 2 BNSF and BN coalporter sets. Hopefully they will put a month between each Heritage so it won't hurt soooo much.

Ya know, thinking more about it, is it just me or does this feel like one of the biggest loco announcements in years? I don't know if its the unique schemes, the closeness of prototype to model release years (about 3 years) or the surprise element - somehow Kato had leaked GEVO and denied SD 70 ACE, even though there might be enough crossover to make the ACE more practical line extension.

If not, then what loco has stirred more excitement?

I can't recall a locomotive with as much universal modern railroading appeal as the ACe being out. And they hid it quite quietly.

And to think I was getting ready to drop some serious $$$$ on the Overland models.... Glad they took forever to come to market as that is what saved me. :)
