I free lance for the most part I can't decided which RR to do. Most are from were I lived as a kid or which looks cool. Northeastern part of the states ,Alabama were Southern ran though about 1/2 a mile away from my grandparents place,High Hoods 6 feet away going real slow by you, scared and excited at the same time!. Excluding New Mexico area ? I like Canadian RR also due to a book I had as a early teen, not a book anymore just lose pages .LOL. Era 1980's but do like steam . Have been thinking of doing two layouts with steam 1950's on bottom with larger curves and narrow self type layout with 1980's era above but need to finish bottom first. Rick
Just in case the industry folks are tuning in. I model the Northern Pacific from 1954 (mostly) to 1969.
I really cant divuldge that information, uh, well uh, just dont look in the upper left corner at my avatar.
I model the Milwaukee Road from Ottumwa,Iowa to Savanna,Illinois from 1981-1985,I love the SD40-2's and MP15AC's,by the way I model in HO Scale.
Western Maryland 1968-1973 ...I get to model every diesel on the road, and two of three of the most eye pleasing paint schemes during the height of probably the best eras in music and history.
I model an area, not a railroad. And I've tried to pick my industries so they don't look out of place from the 50's to the present. This approach gives me the opportunity to run Northern Pacific, Great Northern, Milwaukee Road, Burlington Northern, BNSF, Amtrak, and Montana Rail Link, plus with BNSF pool power, I can slip in a lttle of everything. I even have a few steam engines to use if I get back to the 50's era. Mostly I run modern equipment in MRL colors with some BNSF through freights....my favorite fallen flag is Milwaukee Road.
Unofficial running totals so far (includes any mentions): ATSF 5 BNSF 5 CBQ 5 Freelance 5 MILW 5 SP 5 UP 5 DRGW 4 NP 3 CP 2 CRIP 2 CSXT 2 GN 2 SLSF 2 WP 2 AMTK 1 BN 1 CG 1 CN 1 CO 1 CR 1 DMIR 1 KCS 1 MKT 1 MP 1 MRL 1 MTR 1 NS 1 PRR 1 PS 1 PWV 1 SAL 1 SOO 1 TCW 1 WM 1
Well if we're going to get official.... I have Poolpower from 4 connecting roads: B&O C&O Penn Central N&W Reading Other Freelance Roads that are/will be on the road: Allegheny Midland Virginian & Ohio Laurel Valley
Kinda shocking the PRR has only been mentioned once. I thought that was a very popular road to model. I also have an Atherns 2-6-0 mogal and 5 car overland consist I run in DRGW that I really like. Generally not on the rails with RI, but I just have the set, so I run it because it is a cool set I put together , and it is a sweet runner, and looks really cool scootin around my layout...
No. I don't believe it. Another N Scaler modelling TC&W? Impossible! So, add BN, Soo and TC&W to my interests with a spattering of WP as a sideline.
I run a freelanced road the PACIFIC BELT, My road interchanges with the CP,CN,BNSF & BCrail. era 1980-modern. But I also run 1950's SP & WP with my N-trak group
Guess that's not on the list! =) For me, it's Santa Fe numero uno, with Southern Pacific a close second, then the big Burlington Northern along with the Rio Grande. After that, they are all the same, although I do own a few Union Pacific locos, but they are just there because the demographics of the region I'm modeling call for them. -Mike
