I'm working on lowering the ride height of my Fox Valley Models boxcars.... I thought someone had done this and posted here. Does anyone know the thread? I can't find it with a search.:tb-sad:

    Hi,
I have recently opened the few Fox valley Boxcars I bought, and, except the fact they are nicely molded and come with MT low profile and etched-metal end platforms, I am a bit disappointed by the heigth of those cars, when compared to Micro-Trains boxcars.

I gave a quick try by replacing the MT truck with Accumate, but I didn't secure the pin : I should find the solution. It looked a bit better.
So, I am interested in your options.

By the way, why did Fox Valley supply its boxcars with 70T Micro-Trains trucks instead of the more modern 100T MT truck? IMHO it's a pity...

FVM used the appropriate truck for the car modeled.

I'd be interested in anyone's tips.

Looks to me like you cut away some space on the shell for a 1023 coupler, then file down the bolsters (and a little bit of that brake pipe) flush to the beam detail. Don't foresee any problems with the low-profile wheels rubbing anywhere.

    But I haven't tried it yet. :dont-know:
