It was a busy weekend with grocery shopping and other running around. I also attend a 50th birthday party on Saturday. Sunday was spent indoors due to the storms, doing jobs such as re-setting up our aquarium, and attaching metal sheets behind the radiators. I did, however, get to run a train for a while. My son and I also cleaned up a portion of the layout that had got covered in dust and other debris. We could not figure out exactly where it all came from. Nothing was broken or damaged on the layout.
I successfully installed a decoder in one of my F40PHs, but the other one I tried wouldn't work. I'm missing the little plastic peg that holds the motor contacts against the decoder contact, and I think the decoder itself is dead anyway since I don't get any response from it when it's out of the locomotive.
I ran trains, took the wife to see Journey at Birmingham, and then started repairing one of Mikes locomotives.
I finished my station and installed a train order signal. Eventually I will make it functioning. Wolfgang
well I continued working on a Proto 2000 covered hopper that I have been working on for a few days. I still have to install the end ladders on the A end of the car and finsih the roof assembly. About 1 more hour of work and the car will be ready for the weathering to be applied and placed into service. Next up will be some beer car kits that need to be built.
I finally finished the interior of a HO Hospital that I have been working on and off on for at least 3 months. I still need to detail the roof and weather the outside but the hard part is now done. I posted pictures of it in TrainBoard.com - View Single Post - Weekend Photo Fun August 8, 2008
Spent the weekend painting...the backdrop that is. It's at the end of the aisle where Ozark and Clarksville Jct are located. Still more work to do, but it's a start.
Lessee, what did I do on my three day weekend? Saturday my brother was visiting so we went to the Orange Empire Railroad Museum. We enjoyed that. It was empty. Sunday, not much happening. Monday I spent a bunch of money at Lowe's and Harbor Freight amongst other stops. Nothing directly related to modelling, but the tools will come in handy later. You see, a while ago I ordered the deluxe Micromark table saw. My first project was a double towel rod for the master bathroom. I figured if the first thing I made benefitted her, she'd be more amenable to it. Second project was getting a head start on Christmas. I built a box (miter joints on corners, base rabbeted) and cut a pile of blocks to fill it for my nephew. Good practice with the saw, keeping things within .010". My wife had another idea for hand-made gifts, which requires a drill press and a router. Drill press was two weeks ago, router was today. When all that stuff is done, I get to keep the goodies! And tonight I went to the meeting of my Ntrak club. Direct modelling: zero. Laying the foundation for future modelling: three.
Making progress on my Golden State. I now have 7 out of 13 cars ready for paint. The M&R car sides are just fantastic to work with. The blunt end observation car will be a real joy. I am not looking forward to that one. Managed to snag a couple more cars for my Lark train.Just won the RPO and express baggage.(The streamstyled ones).Paid a bit to much, but that's O.K. I really wanted them. Keep on modelling, Wolf
I finaly put some plaster guaze base down around the bridge scene. Before and after in attatchment. If anyone is ever in the area feel free to pm me to run some trains. Even if its just for a short spell. The Orange Empire Train museum is just over the hills from me.
SP-wolf....I can't wait to see pics. What cars are you using for the GS? Spidge very nice layout. I'm thinking of going to OERM swap meet what date is it? I'll PM you also.
