I have built a great layout with my son using Kato Unitrack, and use the powerpack that came with it (it also has the switches that throw each turnout)... Works great, but recently added some more track that has pushed us over the length limit I guess. The further away form the power connection, the slow the locomotive goes... Can I add another power pack on another location? Or any other way to boost the power? I like the Powerpack, becuase has the turnout controls on the side... Any thoughts or opinions on what to do?
Do you have only one place where the power pack is connected to the tracks? It sure sounds like it. To fix your problem, you could run another feeder wire from the power pack to the other side of your layout. -Mike
And don't stop with only one additional feeder if needed. Use as many feeders as required to get consistent running. Ben
The Kato has a connecotr that connects it to the power pack, so no easy eay to add other feeder wires... I know it sounds like a toy, but is actually easy to do for my son (10) and myself... Perhaps they make a splitter connector... Anyone else out there that uses this powerpack? Thanks in advance -
Yes, Kato actually makes some accessories that would probably suit your purpose. Either the three-way cord or the terminal adapter cord (plus your own terminal strips). Nscalesupply has pictures.
Awesome, thanks for all of the advice... Will get that ordered ASAP. Thanks for all of the advice so quickly... InterFX
