I'm Looking to add body mount couplers to my Atlas P. D box cars. I tried # 1027 that I did on my FGE cars , but the pin and the holes are to far apart for the spacing on the underframe. Thanks Craig

Try posting this on the Atlas board. I'm sure you will get swamped with responses.

Not sure what you mean by Precision Design boxcar, but I body mount MTL 903/905 Z scale couplers with a styrene shim of appropriate thickness to get the coupler at the correct height.

I just double checked the only one of those cars I have and thought I had used 1027's but I think I ran into the same issue as you and just used a 1015.

Micro Trains 1023's are a perfect fit for the Atlas Precision Design cars. Tap the outer most hole with a 0090 tap, and screw in. The height is perfect and the coupler lip fits tight up to the end of the car. I use these on the 50' Rib Sides, 50' Smooth Sides and both 60' cars. I hope this helps.

I concur. The 1023/1025 is the original body mount coupler and is quite universal.
I tend to use it for almost everything except locomotives where either the 1015 or 2004 is a better fit. I don't like the 1015 as much for cars due to its tendency to flex to one side or the other when being pushed.
