yea ... Athearn just announced all four of the MRL units for next may (with and without sound) example: N Scale Supply oh yea ... BN, Susquehanna, Santa Fe Freight Warbonnet, and Milwaukee as well
Sweet! I want all 4 MRL units--that would be a cool lashup! I have a DVD video with proof of MRL runthru power on D&RGW.........:tb-biggrin:
These MRL units actually made it down to Texas a few times. There's a photo of 392 (I think) just north of Fort Worth back in '99 in one of the BNSF annuals, and I've seen at least two other photos of them in the area. I would LOVE to have one of these, but it's probably not in the cards. I saw the ATSF units at a train show over the weekend and they look pretty good...and they're nice and HEAVY!!!
Very excited to have these in MRL. I'll be picking up all 4 of them for sure. Not sure if I'm going to go DC and install my own loksound decoders or if I'll get the DCC + sound units. I'm not real happy with the motor performance of my challenger and a lot of other MRC decoders. By the time these come out I should have time to see how the sound equipped units run.
Seeing the release of the DCC/sound units from the first run was put back seven months at the last minute I'll be pretty darned annoyed if there are still problems with them.
