Anyone heard anything on a release date for the AC-12. I have one on reserve and will probably buy 1-2 more if they run well.

I haven't heard anything myself and am eagerly awaiting the Cab Forwards. I've got two reserved. IM's web site still says Nov/Dec, but that doesn't really mean much. Someone posted pictures of a pre-production sample a few months ago, and they look really nice!

When I was at the SP Convention in Bakersfield recently, I was told sometime in the spring of 2009.

Intermountain was at the St Louis RPM meet in August. I was talking to the guys from Bluford Shops when one of them said something like "Get a look at THIS!", reached across the aisle and grabbed the only one in existence from Intermountain's display! The Intermountain guy said not to steal it as it was the only one in existence so far. That's about when my hands started shaking... Got one good pic and a couple of crappy ones, but the model is gorgeous!

Blackened rods look super . I hope thats not ash pans along the lower edge of the fire box though , as all cab forwards needed to be oil .

This pic shows a two step firebox lower edge, but in the model it's not quite long enough. If you consider it, the lower section has to end or it would hit the wheels when the back truck pivots (it was fixed in real life). I'm betting it's really there on the model to hide the motor. The large flat gizzmo at the forward edge is also in the prototype picture, with piping obscuring it.

If you look close, some of the wheels are not totally black, and exposed areas have the black rubbed off to expose the silver. Air brushed for the show to indicate eventual color? Probably.

Wow, that looks alot like the Key/Nakamura offering from the 80's. My one concern with looking at the design is the pony truck mount, I'm wondering what radius it will handle. That appears to be the same method of attachment that Key used on their korean versions. I also see that it is missing the splitter on the stacks.

Otherwise it looks really good. I can't wait to get my hands on one.

That looks like a fine rendition of the AC-12. InterMountain looks like they've done a fine job engineering that loco.

I'm looking forward to its release whenever.............

It can handle a 11" radius but it will look weird doing it. Both set of drivers (front & back) are articulated.
