    Minor work this weekend:

    1) Wired in decoders for 3 BN GP38's - first one took 3 hours, last 2 took 30 minutes after I figured it out. All went well except for the fact that the 2nd install resulted in a posessed loco (you can read about it in the DCC forum)

    2) Re-numbered two of the engines so I can program different decoder addresses

Here's the trio pulling a short load out of turn #4

and a closer shot of the numbers in front of the treeless mountain...which is weekend another project

Hi, folks, I'm uploading my additional pictures now for Chantilly, they're at:

    http://community.webshots.com/user/atsf_arizona_at_chantilly

Included are shots of Lance Mindheim's N scale Monon (on layout tour), lots of modules, and also contest entries and bridges, and more.

    Here's a shot I took on Lance's layout:

Hello all. Wonderful projects abound tonight. Very nice work.
Not much in the way of new projects from me but I did put together a Walthers Depot kit recently. The kids have been wanting more buildings on the layout. So we got it into place today. My oldest wants the Cotton Belt caboose to be on display. [IMG] Sounded good to me!

Every year, at the Manufacturer's Breakfast at the N scale convention,
each manufacturer gives some comments about upcoming products. Some
notable words said this morning at Chantilly include:

    Intermountain:

Sometime in 2005, they are working towards sound systems
FT's and F3's. Their Tunnel Motor SD40T-2 coming, the F7 project is
coming well along, new UP caboose,

    Micro-Trains:

In mid-2005, will release Z scale sectional track, #6 turnout, and a z scale GP35.
Of course, they have the 89' Autorack coming out.

    Jim Hinds at Richmond Controls:

All LED lighting from now on, switching away from any more incandescent lamps

    Deluxe Innovations:

    Maxi-stack articulated cars, 53' containers...

Kirk Reddie at N Scale Railroading:

An improved newer design for the magazine coming in the next issue

There's much more, and best of all, we don't have to wait long.

Kenneth. That is the damnedest thing I ever saw. I had no idea that there were electron microscopes in the hands of private individuals. [IMG]

    Absolutely awesome work, gentlemen... [IMG]

It continues to amaze me how many talented modelers there are out there, ready to share their work and techniques. Wow!

Gregg, nice steam and what a great load! I recognize the tank, but you filled and sanded the seams, added extra details, and turned a simple part into a real eye-catcher.

John, I should have asked you to grovel in my place at the feet of Greg Scott, and plead for an ATSF 3800-class 2-10-2 kit to fit on the CC model coming out later this year. I would have to find a way to compensate you for groveling on my behalf, but I am sure we Outlaws could work that out! [IMG]

BTW, I have seen a sneak peek of some of Kirk's planned graphics changes at NSR; hold onto your hats, the next issue will really look different...I like what I've seen so far!

Colonel, when I look at that nicely weathered tunnel motor, I smell diesel exhaust and find myself standing trackside at Tennessee Pass! Great work.

Rich, you the man! Figures Atlas would release the same number as your custom unit, a corollary of Murphy's Law for model railroaders I guess. Anyway, superb weathering.

Ahem, Verne. Any manufacturer introducing a mass-produced subsitute for a recently scratchbuilt, custom, or inordinately time-consuming modelbuilding effort is correctly identified among all current and former "Atlasarians" as the "Randgust Curse", in all its forms....er, forums...

You guys haven't even heard this one. About ten years ago I redid a Bachmann extended-vision caboose into one of the handful of the early 70's ATSF extended-vision beauties on the tail of the Super C. Tons of work, paint and decals. Yes, the 999538, now known as Atlas p/n 30203.....shipment still pending.

    Grrrrrrr. Yes, I ordered one!!!

    Kenneth,

You're some kind of masocist, aren't you? Well I too must pay homage. [IMG]

    PSG1790,

How about posting a 'pull-back' overall shot of your JJJ&E Railroad?

I'd really love to see what the 'theater' for your photos looks like.

    John:

Perhaps at a later date when I have the JJJ&E completed.

There is still about 35-40% left to finish scenicking.

Thanks for your interest . [IMG]
