Here's a 'beautiful N scale layout' that looks like a mirror of itself and doesn't have any track...how can it be a 'layout' if it doesn't have any track? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Beautiful-N...149453?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4d0f0024cd
Listed under Concor N scale is this Crescent Limited pacific...in 1/24th scale for $500: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Southern-Cr...748349?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2a2f46147d
It is a cool lookin' engine, but for that price, I better be able to ride it !!! I have noticed that stuff like that seems to be Damned expensive !!! Take a stroll through the "N scale Vehicle" listings. I can barely afford to READ about some of that stuff !!!
"Atlas Gauge" (their description, not mine) ready to run train set. Except it comes with a Bachmann locomotive (price tag says $9.99 from Kaybee), what I can only assume is a junk transformer (there's a picture of an old Atlas box labeled 'transformer'), and several pieces of flex track. How is this ready to run? And all for only $500 (I dislike anyone selling junk as a ready to run train set more than just about anything): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atlas-Gauge...944703?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4ac662d0ff
There is the Atlas N set, but no photo of what's in the box. I'll give them a break for starting up the learning curve. Consign With Us is likely pricing what they were told to by owners. Notice the ZERO feedback.
How about an plastic unbuilt Faller building kit for $250 (Amazon has these for $81): http://www.ebay.com/itm/FALLER-FACTORY-ON-FIRE-/111125161576?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item19df936668
4 whale/jumbo tank cars (one with a crack) $250: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atlas-94-WH...998305?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item3f270b66e1
Here's something similar to the vehicle for sale (but not really for sale). 1/43 scale houses (not sure how they are N scale) for sale, but not these buildings. These are just samples. $250 plus $50 shipping: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-43-Scale-...707661?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2a2f17aecd
Lot of 50 N Scale Train Cars. Most are Bachmann Brand. 11 Come with Cases. The three in the front have deficiencies.(Copied directly from the description): $225 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-50-N...193781?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item43bdbe9975
Lionel is now making N scale passenger cars (listed in N scale/other): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lionel-6-95...191504?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1c34ef70d0
When I checked this, these are not listed under "N scale/ other." These Lionel passenger cars are now listed under "N scale/DECALS"!!! Wonder if the cars are water-soluble?
Just take the cars over to your local copy center. Have them run through the patented micro-shrinker machine, and presto! O converted to N scale.
Did anyone else notice the $500 price tag on the set box? Without a photo of what is in the box, this is a tough sell regardless of the price (which is way over what it is all worth).
I still have a box just like that from the set I got in 1968. It had a Rivarossi E-8, four Rivarossi heavyweight passenger cars (baggage/coach combine, diner, 12-1 sleeper and the observation car). I forget if it came with track and a power supply.
