Well, my problem is the starting bid is about $8 too much! Jim:wideeyes:

Looks a lot better, actually quite good, compared to EMD's own BL2!

We're on a roll people. Same seller. I'm assuming that this guy somehow ended up with the collection of a 'modeler' that did parts-pile kitbashing to a "whole nuther level".

It's not as graphic as the other one, but it has its own appeal. And even he doesn't know what it is.

I think I know exactly what it is, it's an Alco FA B-unit shell glued on a 50' boxcar frame.

I wonder if this guy has figured out why he now has so many page views and no bids?

Oh, here's another one. Oh dear.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atlas-N-Sca...630?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cfa5781d6

What DID he do to that one..... Put an different sill/frame under a B23? Or just loose the railings? "excellent condition in original box". That one even has a bid. And a challenge question on the missing end handrails, denied. "Do you something that I don't??"

OK, and I'll give you creativity on this one, just not a second coupler.

I smell something is off kilter here. Shill bidder or something. I cannot see how anyone would even bid on it for parts.

Just won an old Con-Cor PB1 off the gentlemen. He had it listed as a passenger car but with his clear photos you can see what it is. Emailed him before the auction about combining shipping. John's reply was no problem, just remind him because he is getting forgetful, that's what happens when you're 72. Seems like a nice enough guy, just not a model train "expert".

Meanwhile, there's always humor in how that Internet Auction Community announces increases in the Cost Of Doing Business. For example, USPS rate hikes...

    http://announcements.ebay.com/2015/05/usps-to-change-rates-on-may-31/

    Here's the bad news:

    Priority Mail – no changes
Priority Mail Express – no changes
    First Class Packages – +5.1%
    Parcel Select – +8.0%
    Media Mail – +2.3%
First Class Package International – +7.2%
    Priority Mail International – +6.8%
Priority Mail Express International – +6.7%
USPS Tracking for Media Mail is now free

I'm surprised that there wasn't a Massive Plugola for their Global Shipping Program, considering that the already quite high USPS International Rates just went up again.

As if buying things on eBay wasn't frustrating enough already after the Canadian dollar decided to start imitating a yo-yo. :S

I see the Parcel Select program is going up 8%. I wonder if UPS and FedEx Ground had or will now have a similar rate increase?

I'm glad to read no changes for Priority. In this stage of the computer age, having free tracking numbers on ALL packages should be a standard. It would be a good selling point.

And the USPS has the gall to ask if "I" want insurance? Shouldn't they be asking themselves if "they" want insurance, since "they" are the ones doing the business of shipping?

Not much different than taking out insurance before boarding a flight. They are doing the flying. Your just along for the ride like a package in the cargo hold(if it's air freight, trailer if its ground rates). Or do they do that anymore? I have not flown since 1988. I aim to keep it that way.

I ship often -like 1 or 2 N scale cars- by USPS First Class Package. The USPS site shows the charge as so much if you want tracking. I notice that recently, eBay does not let ME quote a shipping charge. They ask me to specify service and they compute it for buyer. Just put some stuff up, first time in 2 months or so. eBay/ PayPal shipping (duh, which is which?) often get me discount from regular USPS rates.
When I am shipping stuff to a friend, not per eBay, Post Office asks if I want tracking and I say no. They give me tracking ANYWAY with no addl charge.

When I bid on items I use E Snipe. The last 2 weeks I have been the second bidder on all the auctions I have bid on. Beaten by $1.00 each time. I am bidding what I think is a fair price for the items. Always somebody bidding higher. sometimes they are approaching retail prices.

I wish this was happening when I sell something.

    LOL

    Pete,

I don't understand the value of using e-snipe. I do underestand that you want to wait until the last minute or even last few seconds to avoid the bidders who just keep raising the price they bid (the "nibblers") so that you end-up paying more when you win. But, if you are not willing to pay as much as somebody else, then you lose and it doesn't really matter, does it? Of course, you always SEEM to lose out by just a dollar (or even 50 cents) but that is just the bidding increment after your highest bid. The winners highest bid might be just that increment or much more; you will never know. So, what I do is decide how much I am willing to pay for the item, and bid that near the end of the auction. Why is e-snipe better than that?

    Steve
