I didn' t realize that USA Trains made a special run passenger car until now. I don't collect passenger cars and this series of USA Trains passenger cars are not really that popular. So I never bothered to see if there were special run editions of these passenger cars.

These were issued as part of the regular series. Cerveza = R16266 and Salvador = R16285

Additionally, there is R1626 Pacifico Beer

The BTS moved to a new location several years ago (Ontario CA Convention Center). Last year it went from Large Scale only to multi-scale. This year it is being held in early June.

Hi everyone -

I came across this thread searching on google for some information on the USA Trains R-1624 reefer that I just entered into the Large Scale Garden Railroad Database.

That database was started in Germany about two years ago and has evolved ever since - adding an English version, adding links hosted by the GBDB server to drawings, user guides and sound files (with specific permission of the manufacturer) of the specific locos and cars, a section to add digital conversion details, etc.

The database just passed the 2000 entries, most of them right now are LGB going back to 1968 - that is simply due to the fact that most contributing members are using LGB products.

The intent of this database is to eventually provide a good cross-section of products that are or have been available to the Large Scale community. The database goes beyond a simple registry by providing specific information about each product in the database, however, the database is restricted to pictures of members and will typically not use pictures provided by manufacturers.
An exeption was made in the case of LGB when LGBoA removed the LGB product database from the net. This was simply done to continue to provide the Large Scale community with information on new LGB products being introduced while LGB is in Chapter 11 status.

If anyone in this group is interested in contributing product information to the data base, you are cordially invited.
Anyone can use the database without registration, however, to be able to add an entry, one has to register first.
The minimum requirement for an entry is
1. a photograph of the item, 800 to 1200 pixels in size, preferably with a not too busy background.
2. A title for the entry
3. The manufacturer and the manufacturer product ID.

If you don't know the product ID, you can just enter xxxxx and we'll try to identify the product ID.

All other information would be nice to have but is not mandatory to create an entry.

Thanks for any contribution you mat be able to make.

I'm the co-administrator located in Canada, the other administrator is in Germany.
Descriptions can be added in English or German - someone will translate the descriptions as necessary.

Hi EMD Trainman and thanks for the welcome.

I think you must have misunderstood my post.

There was no intent to either have you remove the registry here or move it to the GBDB database - in fact one couldn't even do that even with permission since the GBDB database requires as a minimum a private (not company) picture for each entry or the upload to the database will be blocked.

I was simply wondering if any members here were willin g to contribute their PRIVATE photos to help populate the GBDB database which is accessible to all without cost or registration.

The GDDB database and the USA Trains registry here serve totally different purposes, on the GBDB database we will never have a complete listing of all G-Scale equipment, USA Trains and others, whereas here, that is the purpose of the registry, to list all rolling stock USA Trains ever made.

I'm a bit surprised that you removed the link to the GBDB site since I also read some of the threads on this board before I applied to join and had already found a link to the GBDB data site in other threads on this board.

I did misunderstand the intent of your post. I will be double checking with the upper staff as far as links to other boards and will get back to you either way. Anyway enjoy the stay of train board and hope you like it here

Thanks - and please make sure the powers to be understand that this is simply a G-Scale database, not a forum or board.
The database also doesn't link to a board or has any means for any discussion.
There is a place to comment on an entry but that is it.

On the odd occasion I have seen that certain forums/boards don't like links to other competitive forums or boards, so I think that distinction is important.

If links to the GBDB database are allowed, I would like to post one here to see if anyone can help identify a USA Trains piggy-back car that I cannot find anywhere on the net or in the registry I found on this board.
The registry here includes the following:

The piggy-back USA Trains car is a Maine Central car, it's the only car of the lot of USA Trains cars I received from a friend in the US which does not have a USA Trains product label on the box.

My records agree with you on the Cerveza and Salvador. But, I show the Pacifico as R1621. R1626 is shown as Baby Ruth Good Candy #6265 – Reefer – Wood – New in 1991.

gartenbahn database sometimes has USA Trains listed on it. Go check it out. It's a garden railroad database that is LGB Heavy because it's German, but does contain american stuff too.

EDIT: GartenBahn DataBase is NOT A VENDOR. It is a database collection of pictures of G-Scale equipment. Nothing is for sale.

The GartenBahn DataBase was started in Germany by an IT person who was also a Garden Railroad fan.
He was unemployed at the time and wanted something to do while looking for a job, so he created this.
I joined shortly after and convinced him to add the English version to the template.
Initially we had Dutch as well but took that out when we couldn't get ongoing translations for the descriptions.
Even now, there are quite a few descriptions only in German or only in English because of lack of time.
The real reason the database is LGB heavy is simply that we haven't been able to get individuals who own USA Trains or Aristocraft or any of the other non-LGB equipment to really participate.
I have had people on MLS tell me they would but then I get one or two entries and that's it.
I was hoping to get some people her to participate but that idea was nixed by the head honcho of this board.
I would love to get more US manufacturers equipment into the database but it's an uphill battle.
However - for LGB specifically, it's becoming a great resource that I use myself quite often.

What more do we need for the boxcars registry? I can check with my friends hobby shop and see if he's got anything that's on the registry list and I'm sure he'll be okay with me photographing them (Out of the box considering that his store's price is on the box).

I tried "USA Trains Registry" in google and all it came up with is this thread:
USA Trains Info Registry - TrainBoard.com

All I find there is a list of product ID's with the odd on being a link to the USA Trains website.
Is there something else?

Trainman -
If you want to entertain the suggestion with the trainboard copyright embedded in the picture, we could always set one up and if you don't like it or decide to go some other route, we'll just delete that entry in the database.
Right now you and others in this group have all these photographs and probably other good information about USA Trains equipment and it's not available to anyone else if it's just sitting on a PC.

R1900 USA Trains Woodside Box Cars

I have been working on a PDF of the 1900(0) Series cars and it is nearly complete, minus photos of some entries. I should have it ready for "publication" here in this forum by the end of this week. I will post directions on how to acquire the PDF at that time.

GovB, as usual you have out done yourself. Thanx for the time and contirbutions you have made to the USA Trains registry. Without you and a few others we wouldn't have gathered this much info for USA Trains

GovB, you are correct on the Pacifico being R-1621 and Baby Ruth as R-1626. I mis-typed the number

I believe this was a custom car made for Al Kramer.
