With all the media technology, RSS feeds, Twitters and such that I subscribe too, why can't I get what I ask for ? I go to Zmod in Norway and UP decides to roll 844, a 4-8-4 steamer throughout the San Francisco Bay area while I am gone and just 2 blocks from Rob Ray's house ! But now I have a link for these future runs so I don't miss out: http://www.uprr.com/aboutup/excurs/schedule.shtml It will be in Rosevill, CA this weekend and then Sunday May 3 at the WP Museum in Portola. Then it heads over to Ogden, UT May 7-10 (Tony, you reading this ??). Then off to home in Cheyenne, Wyoming with it's big bad brother: Challenger 3985. UP's 844 is only steamer to not be retired ! .
UP site... Jeff, Thanks for posting this... as I had no idea about the UP website. It has a lot of great information! How were the beers in Norway?
Alex, Oslo's the most expensive city on the world now, so between that and the liquor tax they lay claim to the most expensive beer bars anywhere.
Only say 3 cans and I had one. I brought over all kinds of kits, material and such so they don't have to pay the 25% tax that they normally would when buying from ebay, ZScaleMonster, etc. .
The large group of railfans trying to chase it has made this trip hell. :tb-wacky: I hope there will be less on it's way to Portola this week.
You can buy a "contribution" ticket to ride from Oroville to Portola, over the Feather River Gorge, from the Portola museum for only $1,000.00. :tb-biggrin:
I wouldn't want to be driving on CA Rt-70 up that canyon with all the railfans trying to drive and take pictures. I bet someone will end up in the river. Robert Modelling Tweezer Trains on the Left Coast
