I thought of that but decided it would be to extreme for a main stream manufacturer to do, such a rare engine that never strayed from Dearborn Station and the 21st Street coach yards wouldn't have much marketing appeal. It would 'compliment' the El Cap though which was one of the key words in Wig Wags rumor. Maybe a standard H12-44 or an Alco switcher from someone would be possible, but I'll still cast my vote for a zebra stripe NW2, wouldn't require any new tooling, just a new paint job.

Sort of like this? (Thanks to Jeremy for the paint job.):thumbs_up: I know the road number's not proto; it's significant to our family.

If not a totally new item... I'd have to agree with the zebra-stripped NW-2... which is okay with me. :)

Of course... I'd rather see a D&RGW #100 or #7000 version first. ;) But unfortunately... that probably won't happen until the fourth release of the next California Zephyr passenger set with the Aspen Gold 4 stripe PA/PB units... in 2020. :unsure8ao:

I'll vote for the Budd full dome. Then you do not only ATSF, but with a little imagineering, you could also have the GN variants (in classic green/orange and big sky blue). Of course there's the AutoTrain (original from 1970's) version as well as Amtrak. If one wanted to really expand the roadnames that are possible, they could the ones that have made it into cruise ship tours.
    One can only hope.

This would be something everyone with passenger trains could use. I have used Z scale figures in passenger cars as they are a better fit, but they are not always easy to find.

When you think about it the full length dome wouldn't really compliment the Kato El Capitan as the cars were taken off the El Cap and put on the Chief when Kato's Hi-Level cars arrived. It'd still be nice to have one though.

Well, Wig-Wag has removed the rumor about a rumor, so we may never know what somebody was guessing.

    Uh-oh!

I still see the rumor... on their website.

Maybe IF someone guesses correctly... the manufacturer will called Wig-Wag and asked them to remove the rumor note from their website.

May be another fantasy MTL car.

To go with the El Cap, a new baggage/boxcar. Or a rerun of map cars. Been there, done that.

No ATSF cars have been done yet in the Z passenger series.
Joe, the F7's need something more to pull!
Care to guess what a new Z car body could be??

This is one of those " round toits ". They will git to it sooner or later. Then it becomes a " yabut".

I already have a round toit on my wall so it must be at the yabut stage :tb-biggrin:

I still think it will be the great dome or whatever Santa Fe called it.

If logic were to be used...

The most complimentary items for an El Cap would seem to be the 'Great Dome' from a major manufacturer such as Athearn. The next most logical would be the NW-2 in zebra stripe scheme. I'm not sure what other complimentary items could be done for the El Cap.

Perhaps there are other high level cars used in a later version of the El Cap which might be done by Athearn or Wheels of Time... since both have done high level commuter cars in the past.
