well I recently got some dullcoat and sprayed a covered hopper but in my stupidity i sprayed the couplers as well. so now, the couplers are stiff to move and have caused an unfortunate accident along the main. Anyone have any suggestions for unsticking that sticky coupler?
Same here. I've also taped off the the coupler and spray dullcote, but this leaves the couples to shinny & hard to weather.
i'll try alcohol. Is Coors light ok? ...just kidding... seriously though isopropyl alcohol ok? I tried moving it after it dried which it will move but there is no spring left to it. so now when my train goes into a hill/tunnel it uncouples at that car. quite agravating !!
Every car I have that is weathered gets the couplers painted and dry brushed, then I seal it with dull coat. All I do is put the car on the track and couple it up with another and roll back in forth in one place to work the stiff out of the couplers. It doesn't take long. The couplers are made out of engineering plastic so paint doesn't stick that well. Sticks good enough for weathering, but not enought to bind a coupler together foe life.
