Decoder Install for an N Scale Life Like GP20

    I think the LL GP20 is pretty much the same as the LL GP18. TCS has pictures on the installation of a CN-GP decoder in the GP18 that replaces the small light boards on either end of the loco.

    I think that using a TCS Z2 decoder will work. You can mount the decoder under the rear light board. You can file a little metal of the frame just under the light board to give you some more room. That way you will still have a rear light.
    I would up grade the bulbs to LED's too. Use a 750-1.0 k resistor on each.
    Hard wire like the photos shown on the link above.

    You can also hard wire a Lenz silver mini decoder under the rear light board.
