I would like to model 5-6 of these cars. Anyone have any ideas on which cars to start with? I know the prototypes have been changed a great deal so getting them close will work for me. Jeff
Interesting thought. Here is a link to a list and photos of CSX passenger equipment. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/rsList.aspx?id=CSX&cid=7 You have your work cut out for you. Not sure what commercial cars would match up with this hodge podge of cars. Good luck!!
Jeff,I am in the same boat trying to do the exec train. i would use anything remotely the same if I could get decals, no one makes them and I am attempting to make my own. I did 2 F40's, 9992 and 9993, photos on railimages under my name. Bob.
Thanks for the info guys. Yes, these would be a challenge. What I would do is try to do a few that require the least bit of bashing. Bob those F40s look great. What I want to do is use mine for the Santa Train which is usually pulled by 2 F40s and a SD40-2. My thought also is to pull them behind my Clinchfield 4664. I model present day but on my railroad the CSX kept the Challenger for excursions. Also like yor FEC units,. Jeff
Every Derby Day (except 2009 - budget cuts) CSX pulls the Governor's Derby Train from Frankfort to Louisville. It is always cool to see it roll over former L&N trackage on it's way to Churchill Downs. I have done everything from a simple paint job to scratch-building car sides to make my L&N cars. Just look for existing cars that are similar and go from there. You certainly don't have to be exact. If you click on the link in my sig line you can see how I created my L&N cars, which are close to some of the CSX cars.
