...as "October Releases" for Alexis Bercq in Japan. As you may have noticed Alex has a very good eye for special paint schemes and locos. Here are now another two candidates I prepaired for him GP35R in colours of the Lycoming Valley Railroad. Actually this is the colour scheme Reading has used. Main feature of this loco is the different exhaust stack arrangement and air filter box. This unit, a ex-SP GP35, was rebuild with a non-turbo engine, therefore the central exhaust stack got removed and two single stacks added, similar to GP9s. The loco features also all of my "standard" detailing + the SD40-2 snowplow. The 2. engine is a GP35 Torpedo Tube of SLSF. Lots of grime on this loco as you can find on many prototype photos. Main features here, apart from "standard" details, are the air tanks on the roof with free standing air lines and the extended fuel tank. The front pilot got on top perforated steps; can't see on this pictures, buth they are there...
Nice job! I like the SLSF unit best, because BN bought them and rebuilt into GP39-E, but left the torpedo tubes, and larger fuel tank!
Both of those are beautiful. I just shot some pictures of the LVRR unit when I was up in Williamsport last month. That is a wonderful representation of it. I can't believe that is Z scale!:tb-shocked:
Wow Gerd, the Frisco unit is awesome! But I hate to nitpick-didn't the Frisco units have GE-style trucks from traded in Alco PA's? I have a pic of one in BN green. Either way, awesome job, as usual!!
Look here for the photo I sent to Gerd for this unit. It's hard to see what trucks are being used. But, then again... I'm no expert. http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=519758 Alex
Alco PA's, you mean FA's ; ) In the proto photo posted above they have EMD trucks. You can see the spring hangers.
As usual, superb kitbashing! And I especially love the Continental, uh, I mean, the Lycoming RR unit! Dom
What more can be said but wow! you really knock these out and they look great! (still nothing is as impressive as that slug you made! )
Gerd, this engines are great, but I hearkbroken that the slug is going to Swisszerlard. It should be coming to CSX country, Florida. Seriously, the engines repaint are great. I dont know how you come out with a new engine every week, and I cant do one in six months.
Hi John, I have no layout, therefore I'm not "waisting" my time there, so this frees up time for locos. I have made so far 100+ locos and also 100+ rolling stock, so you get a kind of routine in some things... BTW: if you want a slug you know my adress
