Finished the Burlington Heritage unit this past Saturday. I also printed a custom jewel case insert with a brief history of the Galesburg RR Days Model Train show on the back. This was a fun project.
Jim, That's fantasic! The scheme really works on this EMD unit, though I still prefer a good U boat painted this way. Perhaps you'll follow up with a GEVO at some point? For me, the thing on my workbanch right now is a trio of Kato SD40-2s needing decoder installs. Come on USPS!
Woo-Hoo! This is my first time I can actually post something I'm working on, even though I don't have an actual workbench. I've got a Bachmann Santa Fe dummy F9 in a bath of 91% percent alcohol so I can have a model to test out my airbrushing skills after I get the last few things I need to start airbrushing. Oh and great work on that EMD Jim!
Wrapping up the NUMA seaplane hangar for the eventual harbor scene and also wrapping up my model RR work at the workbench until this fall. Shot of the hangar rear. The lights are Period Miniatures lamp shades with white glass beads glued on as light globes. Another shot of the control tower and equipment attached to the hangar. The dome is radar. Since everything but the Coast Guard PBY only have floats, they need trailers to move them around the hangar area and vehicles to move them and for support so I fabricated them and modified a few resin cast vehicles for the purpose.
Well I guess because of the move over to new hosting the Rail Images went down last night before I could post the final shot of the hangar in my last post. So here it is before it goes into storage for awhile. The interior has a couple of air compressors made from old left over plastic sprue. The large wheeled fire extinguishers are two metal handtrucks from Period Miniatures and again plastic sprue. Various barrels are spaced around with a few on pallets and in the right rear corner a drill press and grinder set. The A frame ladder is made from three pieces of N scale car ladders. The center stripe to aid in backing a large plane into the hangar to clear the tail notch in the door is from a NP freight diesel set while the striping around the loading docks and fire doors are from old sets of diesel nose stripes. The window glazing is Micro Kristal Klear and the two skylights in the roof are out of my structure parts box.
threecats trying to stay out off flood waters sump pump quit guess its time for a new one after twenty plus years of good use bet they don't makeum like they used to
Thanks. I was going to use the TomTec boathouse and ramp for the seaplane maintenance facility but the two big gals sort of put and end to that idea and the only commercial one I could find was too small. This one will take up a 12 by 14 inch footprint when the front ramp gets added.
Wow! I'm really liking that heritage unit. CB&Q really did have the best paint scheme of any of the pre-BN merger roads, except for the North Coast Limited passenger colours.
That "Q" engine is just too cool !!! I truly hope this inspires BNSF, but I doubt it. CSX, NS, and UP send nothing cool through my area, as busy as it is !!! I have seen IAIS's Rock Island engine a million times, and there is still an old EJ&E SD38-2 prowling around the CN yard. That's about it !!! Joliet is on the BNSF trans-con, so if they did the heritage thing, I'd get to see 'em once in a while. Before I stray anymore, that is a VERY nice engine !!! Great idea, and a great job !!!
The first Duprey rail service locomotive, I still have some finishing touches to to on the roof and top of the short hood as well as placing the horn mid long hood.
Hi Nearly complete my BQ23-7 conversion, need to add CSXT decals to the cab sides and sort out some glazing. Alexander
