Thanks Otto, that scene is a mini dio I made years ago. Scratchbuilt the gas station from an MR article on Canadian gas stations. That's my wife filling up her Red 67 VW bug back in the day.
I started my foray into hand laying track. I used paper templates and a homemade jig for the frogs. Everything else was just kinda eyeballed. It worked out pretty well, I think, and my test wheels rode through the turnout smoothly... working with code 40 isn't all that bad but I took a lot of time. Gonna get a good chunk of track made up and then solder it into sections and spay-bomb it before putting it on the layout with the wood ties.
Added a few dozen more people to my ballpark scene...trying to get to about 200. N scale people are expensive!
I have managed to complete assembly of panel track car BCOL 6510, including bunks for the track panels and fencing for miscellaneous supplies: I have left off the brake wheel and the end ladders for now as the end top header plates are actually tread plate, and they need to be primed and glossed in preparation for the application of Archer decals. I also assembled the seven track panels which will comprise the primary deck load for this car, using Fast Tracks ties and Code 40 rail: These are now waiting for the arrival of joint bars from Proto 87 Stores, which have to be added to each rail at one end, painting of the rails, and chain to keep them together. Hello all, so many things on the workbench... some FUD 3d printed items received a 24 hour soaking in Bestine.... ESM's White Tower Reataurant (can't figure a way to use this in an ATSF scenario-perhaps a 'Chicago' style urban module)...regardless, a beautiful piece that I can't wait to paint and detail some 3-signal targets... one of two of Bill's (Skytop models) beautiful REA reefers built converted troop sleepers (still have to add the BLMA grabs and airbrush the BLMA PE stirrups -they didn't arrive 'til after the preliminary painting-then gloss-weather-flatcoat-weather) These castings are beautiful...I've acquired 5 so far- three outside door boxes (NYC) and two of these reefers (REA) Thanks, ~Bruce
While watching Lauryn Williams push that bobsled! I had gravel on one of my Classic Metal Works Flatbeds but it didn't look quite right. All shiny and plastic-y... Ballast glued to the bed... Toothpicks glued together and exact-zeroed into shape... T Painted and glued to the bed...also painted the plastic to match the wood... Now he won't loose his load when he drives off...
over the last 4 days and after lots of screaming, bleeding, bonding and debonding of fingers and realizing i hate tiny brass details.....ready for paint!!
Thanks Bruce. Starting the crane this weekend. Not looking forward to the time but eager for the challenge
I've had these 2 LBF boxcars sitting on my kitchen table for about a month now waiting for some paint and decals. Finally got around to finishing the project last night. the 2 boxes in the middle are the custom ones. The one on the right is an Exactrail and the one on the left is an original LBF in the IBT colors. Brian
getting a chance to put together some of the new Showcase Miniatures poles and crossarms...mixed a color for faded poles... ~Bruce
When did these come out?! By far, one of the most-needed details in N scale. Will have to order a bunch.
