Some sources tell me that Atlas might be releasing SD70 series some time in mid to late 2002. A GP60 might also be in the works.

Somebody is also rumored to be making an FP-45.

Wouldn't it be nice if all the manufacturers released a 5 year plan so we could all save for what we wanted. i know i've heard all the arguments why they do not but it would be nice [IMG]

    Scott,
Did you get this off the Atlas message board? An SD70 with both standard & "widenose" cab would be welcome, as well as one with AC features.

Also, I hope they do a much better job with the FP45 that the Gawdawful Lima offering. BOTH the F45 and FP45 would be nice to see.

Someone on the Atlas board was talking about a FP-45. The SD70 and GP60 I got from other sources.

    Colonel,
I'd settle for a 2 year plan from the Mfgers!!!! I was overjoyed when Kato announced new products for 2001!! I too would like some time to 'save up'

A Release schedule 2-5 years out would be an excellent idea - would allow for better planning and budgeting - also would give you the heads up you need so you don't miss out on the limited runs, which unfortunatley happens all too often with Kato - Hope they still have a NKP mike available when I can afford it.

I think whatever the reasons stated by the manufacturers, part of the thinking is that they don't what you saving up for the upcoming models, they want you to buy what's available now! Personally, I feel very confident that eventually someone will be making a SD70. So, even though I love the Kato SD90s, I will stick with 4 models and save my loco budget for when the SD70s come out. Don't think I'll buy 1000 units like the UP did, but it will definately be up around .6% to 1% of the UP purchase.
