I'll give my LHS a call next week. Hopefully by then some of you will have already posted pics of your new AC-12 and told everyone how wonderful they run and look. That's if they ship in 7 days. Therefore 10-14 days before my LHS has it, then another week before I see it. So March it will be.
Well, I'm in the U.K. so God knows when i'll get mine! Ordered from Chuck at Feather River, so add on the 14 days postage plus an eternity at British customs for added duty and tax, plus the Post Office charge for handling the charges, I just hope it's gonna be worth it!
Well-Well ! I've just received a confirmation of my "very early" (as-announced!) reservation from NScaleSupply, he refer AC12s are on the road from IM. I'm in Italy and, given we don't have a "Royal mail" service... I guess I can't win the race! Well, hopefully this was not a start for a new "CabForward Saga" as our Horrible Oversize brothers!
In post #34 of this thread, I said that February 2010 would be the release date of the AC-12. We have 28 days in February, so lets be patient.
I'm also in the UK, so let's see who wins that race - after paying £8 (or did they increase that again?), VAT at 17.5% makes about £30:tb-hissyfit: - we are not amused.
When I bought my Challenger in 2008, it tip-toed quietly under the noses of Customs and was delivered without any extra tax, duty or handling charges biggrin: Doubt I'd be so lucky today arghh:
Steve, you are very lucky! The last 5 things from the States I have been "caught" for! So if it is something not out of the ordinary I get it from the Penguin.
Is your LHS going to carry this product? Well... here's some sobering news for me... I decided not to pre-order the AC-12 fully expecting my LHS to have a bunch on hand... at least that was what I was originally told would happen when originally announced. As noted in another thread elsewhere on Trainboard, I usually don't get big ticket items from my LHS. The LHS typically does not discount beyond 15% and the sales tax of 7% is usually higher than shipping charges... but for this item... I really wanted to 'try before I buy'. So... it seems that after stocking other steamers this past year... and not having sold-out the inventory... I was told the following. "We will NOT be stocking this item because it is an UNPROVEN commodity". AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!... Okay... time for more Cab Faux-ward origami for the roundhouse.
Seems the customs man lets stuff through if he's having a good day, but if his wife nagged him that morning or the cat ate his breakfast he charges all he can. I've ordered a cab forward, but it's really come at a bad time as I'm trying to get money together for my year aboard. Why do IM have such long lead times? It makes planning really difficult. Simon
