Here is the latest progress on Gavin and Ryans layout. The control panel is made and the location of the Tech 6's is determined and velcroed down. The 110 V switch is on and the power cord and receptical are on. I also got the other two LH turnouts and placed them. I have 4 more feeders to place and the remainder of the track can be screwed down. Mike
Nice looking layout Mike; I'm sure they will have a blast. Should help make for one very Merry Christmas. Do they know your doing this for them? Glen
Great Christmas plan. That is how I got started when my railroader Dad and grandfather gave me a lionel for Christmas 1945. I still have it with the tinplate cars.
Actually, my sister, who is 5 years older, got the same christmas present even though we were both born in October. i really think the train that I have is hers but she says it is mine and I am not about to disagree anymore. As I was growing up i had a 4x8 board with a layout that my Dad and I built. I was allowed to keep it up in the dinning room from Christmas to Easter. Later, I developed it in the basement and moved to HO and eventually to N. A lot of big gaps along the way but forever a railroader. As my family said "Once you get cinders in your shoes, it is for life."
Very true! And, you are making me dream of those youthful days, the Lionel Trains at Christmas..... Boxcab E50
It was definitely a special time. I was so fortunate to grow up in a railroad family and in a town with 5 railroads - NKP, Erie, B&O, Pennsy and the DTI and lived in the middle of them. Also, this was Lima, Ohio home of the "LOCO" the Lima Locomotive Works. As an elementary student I got to ride on the switcher to take the diner of number "9" and the dispatcher let me throw the switches on his console for the passenger train. I am so fortunate. Now to build a reasonable replicate is the project forever. Of course, my nieces and daughter think I might be missing a few ties.

That's great Mike. Looks like the grand kids liked it. And to think when I was their age I received a TYCO train set, and loved it.
Thanks Guys , I do not know how long it will last at their house but he is REAL careful on mine. Thanks Guys , Mike
