In anticipation of the 2009 Winter Layout Party, I went back and was looking at the thread from the 2008 party. I noticed a lot of the photos are now missing because they are just dead links, as if the website they linked to does not exist any longer. This continues a trend I have noticed lately--a bunch of the layout websites I regularly visit have all of a sudden disappeared in the last few weeks. These are just a few of the more well known layouts that are in my favorites and no longer work, and I can't find a newer version via Google: Bruce Carpenter's HO BNSF Chillicothe Sub Stephen Priest's HO Santa Fe Emporia Sub Bernard Kempinski's N Rio Grande Tennessee Pass I know the Kempinski layout was dismantled a few years ago to make way for a new layout, but the website had been functioning all along and there was some very good reference material available on there. Anyone know what is going on with these layouts or websites? I sure did like visiting those websites for inspiration. Jamie
If you have the url try wayback machine. I can see there my website years ago. Internet Archive Wayback Machine Wolfgang
Speaking of layout websites Jamie, I'm glad to see you back at work on yours. I've enjoyed reading the updates over the last two years despite my scale and era being different (HO/B&M in 1950). When you considered changing to the Seaboard in '66, you almost made it back to the caboose era! Nonetheless, It's good to see you're back at it. Duane Goodman
Is this Bernard Kempinski's N Rio Grande Tennessee Pass website? http://alkemscalemodels.net/TennPass/Intro.html Came across it the other day; lots of inspiration there.
Yes, that's the one! Looks like he moved it over to his Alkem company website. Also, I noticed that the BNSF Chili Sub website is back up today, so not nearly as bad as I thought. Must have just been a coincidence that a bunch of my regularly visited sites either moved or were down all of a sudden on the same day. Jamie
Yahoo shut their Geocities web sites down last fall. A lot of sites based there went into limbo for various reason. There are scores upon scores of dead links now as a result. John H. Reinhardt
Bernie is now modeling the USMRR in O scale - and doing a great job of it. He's documenting it in a blog - usmrr.blogspot.com Marty
Linked from that site is this one: http://coastline.no13.se/#home All I can say is WOW. That is an incredible lighthouse scene.
I was told by a close associate that Stephen Priest was no longer modeling and was concentrating on some business venture. Not sure if the old layout is up or not.
