I'll start it off: Jan got me 8 Raiilroad disks and I got her a Movie disk and a new plant for her garden room. Jan got some "Doggy Treats" for Ginger, which kept her busy while we ate. Then we settled down to watch the snow fall and sunset as it got dark. That is one of the 'perks''to getting old. We have the time to stop and enjoy all the things we passed up when younger. Jan finally put on her new movie, "The Wages of Fear", (New to her), and I came here to the Trainboard. When you are in a wheelchair, there is not a lot you can do outside, but we enjoyed our day, how did your day go? I Have one more question. Below this post it mentions I can put up to 25 "TAGS" on here. What is a TAG, and why would I want one? .
I received some Hallmark ornaments from the Lionel series. I have some from from every year since I got the Hudson 4-6-4 years ago. I have my own little tree that I can hang all my little trains on. It is getting quite full these days. I also received the new N scale Kato El Capitan train.
We haven't opened our gifts yet. Wife has been in hospital(not to worry, she's coming home tomorrow). I think I may be getting some foamer videos. Watash, what sort of dog is "Ginger"? My first Irish Setter's name was "Ginger". That was her "call name". The rest of us here at home had a small holiday party on Christmas Day and like you and your Frau,we sat and watched the snow. We also watched my 6 y/o grandon play with his hoard of gifts from Santa Claus We have a G scale train running round the tree. It is one of those remote controlled things. Runs on plastic track and is battery powered. Grandson gets a charge out of playing with it!
The most fun I had was having the day off with my wife and watching my kids tear into and play with their new gifts. I got the kids each a ukulele, since they've been wanting to play guitar but their arms and hands aren't quite big enough. Santa brought me a ukulele as well so I can work on this stuff with them. Santa also brought me a nice quality prime lens (80mm) for my Mamiya C33 TLR, one of those boot brush and scraper thingies you set by your back door (as I had requested), a nice plain wall clock for downstairs (so I know what time it is when watching my train videos), a nice sweatshirt, and some other odds and ends.
Nothing directly related to trains here, just long-sleeve pullover shirts, sweats, and some Guinness beer glasses. Plus the promise of some extra coin to spend at the next swap meet (should be in Tulsa- too far to go to Plano, and I'm working that weekend). Best thing for me was that I got to spend Christmas (part of it, anyway) with my family. That's better that any rail-related gift.
Some sweet LL Bean slippers, a nice book, magazine, and the revival of my model railroad. Merry Christmas!
Train related items I received were a $40.00 gift card to Caboose Hobbies from my future brother-in-law. Patty got me Noel Holley's book, "The Milwaukee Electrics." And she also got me this sweet cabinet to organize my modeling area: Non-train related items were some warm cozy jammie bottoms, The complete recordings to Lord of the Rings-Return of the King, and Harry Potter DVD boxed set. This was the first Christmas that Patty and I actually spent together. The past 2 years she has gone back to Indy to be with her family there. Having her here for the holiday was the best gift of all.
SOCKS! Warm, wonderful, comfy cozy wool socks! I also got new flannel pajammies, slippers, 3 new shirts, a coffee mug, a $50 gift certificate to the hobby store, and a hardback copy of The Name of the Rose, signed by Umberto Eco. Most importantly, I got got to spend the whole day with my 7 year old son, who has a budding yet feverish love of my main hobby,Model Railroading! We also made Gingerbread Waffles for the whole family together, he is quite the little helper.
What else? A 2009 Chicago Blackhawks Winter Classic Jersey; Numbered for Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews. And 1600 Microsoft Points for Xbox Live. We spent the budget on a new dog earlier.
