Someone please explain this one to me.I am missing something but not sure what? BN HIGH SIDE COVERED HOPPER WEATHERED HO SCALE - eBay (item 360178794076 end time Jan-07-10 09:28:00 PST)
that seller has another car on their at the same price, I'd assume he hit the zero button one too many times.
You think that is bad, check this out. SD40 Canadian Pacific Hoscale, - eBay (item 270509721937 end time Jan-09-10 15:51:09 PST)
A Real Rarity Come on guys, this one is a real rarity, a 4 axle SD40. Cut the seller some slack.:tb-wink:
Just a minute guys. Never underestimate the number of really stupid, uninformed, people with money in this hobby. Any weekly check of eBay will usually turn up some piece of $7.95 BB Athearn rollingstock that's been modestly well weathered, that's been bid up to around $100. This fella is undoubtedly just checking to see this week's level of utter stupidity on eBay happens to be. Hey, after seeing an empty cardboard Lionel shipping box go for upwards of $5,000 on eBay a while back, I'd have to consider this $400 Athearn car a bargin! NYW&B
You've got to be kidding. I think I will get the weathering assembly line going as a second job. Reminds me of an ExactRail car weathered by "I could care less who" for $175.
If my wife insisted I sell my "investment" in model trains, which we all know are "extremely valuable", I would certainly list my Athearn trains at least for a couple hundred bucks. I imagine Proto 2000 is worth roughly 50% more. BLI is worth double. Brass is worth triple. If non of them sold it was obviously because no "real connoisseur" of model trains knew the "value" of these "collectors items". Too bad, I guess I'll just have to keep them for myself. Not saying this is what's happening here... Dave
I looked at thier other items list and those guys are but serious! This is that High priced auction house that offers to come to your home and appraise yor total inventory. If it meets thier requirements, they will sell it all for top dollar. We looked at them so Jan wouldn't have to worry with it when I pass away. Be careful of these guys orthier fees will eat up what little cash is left for you!! They do evemtually sell the items, mostly over seas.
