I am returning to the hobby after many years away. I have modified an N gauge 2 x 8 layout I found on the Layout Depot using RTS8. But I intend to use KATO Unitrack, which has different track lenghts, etc. than Atlas. Does anyone know of software that will support Unitrack or let me design track segments to Unitrack specifications? Thanks.
Thanks to all who were so generous with their advice. I'm trying xTrakcad and working through the early frustrations. If I lose patience, I'll try one of the others.
    Thanks again to all

XTrakCad and AnyRail both have complete Unitrack libraries (I've used both, started with AnyRail, moved to XTrak)

    Walt,

WinRail includes a Kato Unitrack library.

Another vote for Anyrail. It is very easy to use and produces nice looking track layouts.

AnyRail is by far the easiest planning software I've used.

However XtrkCad is much more powerful once you learn the basics.

I no longer have AnyRail installed because I favor XtrkCad.

Also, AnyRail has a trial version (Max 50 objects per layout), however is $39 (I think) for the full license. XtrkCad is completely free.

    I vote for XTrakCad

I've been using XTrakCad for several years and still don't know all of what it will do, but what it does do I love! One of its finest features is the ability to run virtual trains over your layout.

Another vote for XtrakCAD. Have designed 4 layouts so far - and like others, I still find new and interesting features.

It is free and I found that if you go through the included tutorials FIRST, you gain a reasonable working knowledge very quickly.
