We had 18" of snow here in Pittsburgh, but what was lousy about this storm is that our community lost our electricity for almost 2 days! NO HEAT--- and Saturday night's temp was 8 degrees! We had our power restored Sunday afternoon---great to have heat again!!!---and power for the computer!!! LOL

Last month, we had 4 inches of snow. Public transport shut down, trains broke down, switches were frozen, highways suffered from major traffic jams, and the news announced weather alarms.

Well, last years they always give weather alarms: too much sun, too much rain, too much wind, too much snow etcetcetc.... And when I just take my car and go somewhere because I want to have fun, people ask how the trip was, like I had to travel through the Siberian tundra......

Got 25 inches here in The Gulch. Some 250.000 without power, And my Wife's danged truck had the windshield wipers give up the ghost. Suprisingly we managed to keep power. Normally in the The Gulch when it slightly clouds up we lose power. Lost water for three days one time too. Did manage to almost finish a project of converting some passenger cars to 60 and 65 foot shorties, and have the makings of a heater car laying on the workbench. Now to fire up the rotaries and start moving snow.

Be happy you didn't get 45 inches like Flagstaff AZ did a couple weeks ago.

Be happy that you are not in Canada. Wait, we don't have any snow accumulation here in Toronto for months and Vancouver is as warm as a spring breeze...not good for the Winter Olympics.

From what I hear they are going to try some artificial snow up in Whistler since there just isn't much snow for the Olympics. Kind of a nightmare. There goes the budget.

Yeah, I live in the South Hills and we were supposed to get 6-8 inches. I took measurements at several locations and came up with 21.5 to 22.75. My brother who lives just 6 miles away measured between 23 and 25 inches. Very wet heavy snow too. Hard to shovel and tends to clump and clog the snow thrower. More is coming the news people say another 6-8 tomorrow. I hope this 6-8 isn't like their last 6-8.

Whiners!!!! I shoveled three inches off my driveway before leaving for work, drove through treacherous unplowed streets (uphill both ways) to get to the office, and then had to WALK across a snowy parking lot to get into the building (again, uphill both ways, barefoot).

Here in New Mexico it has snowed more than normal but it melts quickly. The montains have a bunch of snow.
Albuquerque the last week or so you can go sking up in the Sandia's in the morning and go golfing in the afternoon in the city, about 50 to 55,the same day.
When we first moved to Albuquerque I was 15 years old ,came from the Boston area.It snowed a little with maybe an inch on the ground but no big deal but when I went to school all the halls were empty so I went to the office where they said the school was on 3 hour delay.
So I went home and my mom didn't believe me when I told her about the delay.
She called up the school to make sure.
This morning it was snowing a little now I look out the sun is poking out, only in Albuquerque.

I recall playing golf in January one year at Riverview Golf course near Elizabeth, PA. It was cold but no snow. On the right side of the 18th fairway there is a small lake or pond if you wish. A guy in our foursome hit his ball smack in the middle of the pond. When we got there we saw the water was frozen solid and his ball was sitting about 10 feet from shore. He walked out there and using a 8 iron chipped it onto the green then two putted for par. Everyone wanted him to take a 2 shot penalty for a water hazard but the ball was playable so a par it was. Of course we had to hear about it everytime got together. But we got even. We played golf every two weeks during normal golf weather that same year and he never got another par. He even missed a one foot putt! Pay back is so sweet!!!
