So -- i said the dreaded word today... as I was laying out scenery and ballasting the first of my unitrack..

I hit this wall when i was re-connecting the power to run some trains. oh. wait. what power?

I laid out the track plan, installed the foam + risers, did all the benchwork, glued sections of track, and forgot to run ANY bus wires.

So now, not only do i need to run those, but I also have to find a drill bit thats long enough to run through 3+ inches of foam AND the underlying plywood.

Anybody want to chime in and make me feel better?!

Um, do you mean you have only done this once? or are you only admitting to only one?

Ya, I am sure I have though I can't quite remember them. They will come to me.

this is the only time i've ever forgotten feeder wires for the entire layout. I've made my share of mistakes though -- Having the first 90 degrees of a 180 degree turn on a 2x4 be 15 inches... yeah, that made the rest look something like 8...

I'll head to home depot today... but on a 10x10 bedroom layout... this could take a while!

I bought a bit a Home Depot to do that. Not a problem at all.

Yes they are available. I've used a 12" x 3/16" to install small low voltage wiring for phones and other devices. They come in a wide variaty of sizes.
I hope I never make that mistake. :mooh:

I've had that happen- I discovered that after I was well into the scenery, I was missing a couple of feeder wires. "Oops" wasn't the word I had in mind, but this IS a family forum, so.................. :D

I got a 1/8" x 12" drill bit by Irwin at Home Depot for $5. That should take care of the problem.

My 12" bit has worked flawlessly -- so far so good on correcting my mistake! Only made a couple of three major messes out of things!
