OK guys, if I am the first to see this here, then we are all slipping. I was tooling around on the BLMA site just a few minutes ago looking for the due date on the 5 unit Spine Cars, when low and behold I see a pre-orders for a 3 unit spine car.

I guess for obvious reasons, this is not too much of a stretch to go from a 5 unit to a 3 unit, and I had intentions on doing same with one of the sets I have order from my LHS, however, it looks like I will not have to do that now, which is great news…and bad news for Mr. Wallet.

I am not going to say exactly where this was hiding, but lets just say, it was in fairly plain sight.

Yeah Mr. Wallet took a hit today. I love the 3-unit cars, much easier for me to justify in my own layout. And hopefully these will, as promised, track empty. A lot of my older Deluxe 5-unit well cars only do great when they have a weighted load in each well, for example. I realize empty cars are a problem for the prototype too, but they don't have my little railroad's sharp curves. :)

I'm surprised Craig didn't make an announcement here yet, but I guess he's too busy working hard to show that other N scale manufacturers are holding the scale back. heheh

It sure is a great time to be modeling N Scale Intermodal. 2010/2011 looks to be 'loaded' with N scale Intermodal projects, delivered and in the works.

The spine cars look great !

Wow, I just drooled a little.

Beautiful. It's rolling stock like this that make me go, "Converting to N scale was an excellent idea."

    One tiny concern -

If this is an all-purpose intermodal car, then how can one place containers on it? The modeled container hitches do look prototypical - but a little too prototypical in fact: There doesn't seem to be a way to attach any commercially-available container on top of it!

Walthers and Kato have pegs on the bottom of their containers, while Con-Cor has holes on the bottom of theirs, but I believe those holes are too small to accept the interbox connector modeled on the BLMA car. And the most popular N scale containers - DeLuxe - have neither holes nor pegs! So are the container hitches just for show?

I'll bet your right Ben! LOL
Seriously.....BLMA with Craig at the wheel is going to become the top N Scale provider of quality cars and detail parts. This is the kind of commitment N Scale needs, and shows what can be done in this scale. I've been friends with Craig for a long time, and I am very proud of what he is doing. He is just getting going on producing cars, and already he has the best looking molding, the best looking wheels, the best looking trucks, body mounted couplers, and the painting/lettering is outstanding. The bar has been lifted to another dimension and BLMA and it's leader is at the top. :)
Thanks Craig.....and KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WORK!

WOW! Another awesome model coming down the pike from Craig. I saw this yesterday afternoon and didn't get a chance to get back over here and post something.

Jerry is right on about Craig. He's the one who got me to come over to Trainboard many years ago. I have a couple of custom painted locos that Craig did for me almost 10 years ago. Top notch even then. I must say, every time I see Craig announce something new, I am amazed at how far he has come and can only imagine what we have to look forwad to out of him.

Looks incredible. The trucks and wheels (and the rest) are just stunning.

BLMA is making it hard to resist modeling modern!:tb-confused:

Even though I try to model the transition era I'll be getting some spine cars, BMLA cars are so good you can't help yourself.

So far from the video they look like the best commercially-available spine cars in ANY scale! BLMA FTW!

For my intermodal fleet I have gone to the "well" often, but now it looks like it is time to show some "spine" also. :) These will be a nice addition to my fleet and a good way to intro BLMA rolling stock onto the Dixie Line. Jamie
