My first post. I super detail HO engines and scratchbuild tank cars. Use the link below to see what I do. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Bobby http://www.flickr.com/photos/53243414@N00/?deleted=3941799745
Holy cow!! Those are amazing. Very, very well done. Excellent detail! I hope you will share some of your tips for how to do these. And maybe a few could be beginner level... if you even remember beginner level? Amazing.
Thanks guys for the nice comments. I guess I'm one of the senior members of the board?! I'm 66 and have been a modeler from childhood. I started with a AF train set. I was into drag racing and NASCAR dirt racing for several years, and got back into trains in my 40's. This is a great hobby as you all know. These groups are where you meet some great folks, and I'm glad to be a part of this one. As far as sharing what I do, I'm always honored when someone asks. I think one thing I have going is, I never get in a hurry. I never work on anything unless I'm in the mood. If you have any questions, ask away! Best Regards, Bobby
Exellent work of course! In addition I am very pleased to see that there are still a few ppl that scratchbuild their rolling stock - like I do.
Hey Bobby, I dont have much of my stuff online. I once started a blog with some SP cars though. Espee ... from scratch Needs an update, I think
Superb Jens!!!!! With all the SP fans out there, we need to get out the word about your site. I hope you'll add the other models you've done. I'll post it on Atlas. Regards, Bobby
Glad you liked them. Ihave a few more SP cars in the pipeline and I will add them of course. But since I am working slow (so many models, so little time) it will take a while. Inbetween I will post progress here at trainboard in the "workbench thread". I hope to see your work-in-progress shots there too
Jens, I have two tank cars in the offing. One is a total scratched eight axle Vinyl Chloride car, the other is a heavy duty kit bash. It's a tank car that's been done incorrectly by several model cos. I hope to finish it first.
Love those tank cars especially the small 4000 gal ones. I'd love to scratchbuild a few of them when I finally start building a layot.
Your artistry is a real inspiration Bobby. While I'm almost as old as you, I've only been modelling for a few months and enjoying it immensely. Tank cars are really cool. This is my first attempt at kitbashing... The contrast in our abilities and experience is truly daunting isn't it? Take Care, Greg
Pat, Greg, I'm happy you enjoyed my efforts. Greg, your work is vert neat, and believe me that's a trait that will serve you well as you go on to more complex projects. Regards, Bobby
Thanks, Bobby... even though I'm just in the infant modeller stage, it's so much fun looking at everything as if it's potential raw materials to be utilized for an unintended purpose. And over the years I'm sure the enjoyment and satisfaction will be the same as it is right now. Greg
