Super stoked!! :tb-cool: I' glad I've held off on the new B-mans and just stuck with the older one form when I was a kid. I guess it always helps to suggest a new model to manufactures. I hope they do lots of Rd. #'s and 4 car set with 1 cafe in the set. Now all I need is the brass Overland EMD FL-9 to be made. But will have to settle on making a kit bashed Kato P-42 in to a P-32 ACDM for now.

    Mark,

The step-down coach is an El Capitan car and the Transition Sleeper is a Superliner. They look similar, but if you put the two cars next to each other, they are completely different and the end of an El Cap could not be spliced on to a Superliner (and look right):

You can take a Superliner I Coach or Sleeper and do a somewhat easy kitbash. I have done it twice (one in Phase IV and one in Phase IVb).

It would be nice to get the Metroliners and cab car, but now we can do 100% acurate single level long distance trains with Amfleet IIs. The newer Bachman Amfleets aren't TOO bad if you decal them and modifiy the trucks and couplers.

Now only if we could get Kato to make an E60 or an AEM-7.

An FL9 sounds like a job for Intermountain.

Wonder if they are going to do Viewliners and the Bud baggage car to go with this. Would be cool to do a complete modern Silver service train.

Was there any hint as to when the Amfleets would be arriving?

Don't know about the Viewliners (that would be nice...) but the Budd baggage will be here in Oct... Maybe we can get them to modify their CB&Q diner for a 8400 class diner as well..

No pictures yet. Kato should have pix in Milwaukee @ NMRA.

There are a number of cars that Kato could be doing in Amtrak paint, including the smooth sided leg-rest coach with and without the pointless arrow and the three stripe scheme... the problem is getting them to do them. Many people model a modern era and having a variety of equipment would be of use, and might just make them some money as well. But how do you get them to understand that.

Well, I know that there is at least 1 diehard Amtrak modeler there. So there may be hope. for more low level cars. Some of those SP cars would work as well as the CB&Q and ATSF ones.

Maybe photos of modified cars with info on them. And something that can be done on the cheap.

Set was at my door when I got home from rail fanning today. Nice set, the Amfleet cars run very free. Made a 7 car train with my Kato MHC cars and one locomotive. I just need about 3 more coaches. The only thing that pissed me off is they do not give you trip pins for the 5 cars. They give you just 4 pins for the loco coulpers. Called Kato and they realy dont care that they are not in the set. Oh well

Did they say, "We don't care?" Did you look in all of the jewel boxes carefully? I bought Superliner A+B sets recently and the trip pins for all the cars in each set were in one bag in the jewel box of the first car.

It comes in a nice book case. Their is 1 parts pack, Its the same one that comes with the P42's and thats all. The dude said that I can order them. But I told him their shipping $7.95 and I'm not going to spend $10 for trip pins. He said order other parts with them. This is the 2nd time this has happen to me. Two weeks ago I got some AMTK MHC with no coupler trip pins too. Kato needs to learn a thing or too from Atlas customer service!!!

Of course you don't need the trip pins if you are not going to use magnetic uncouplers, I don't bother putting mine in to start with.

Doesn't sound like Kato we know, or used to know, though.

IF...the set is pictured with trip pins on their site...

    AND

    If It Where Me...

I would call them back and ask 'nicely' if they would be so kind as to ship you the trip pins on their dime...or would they prefer you send the whole set back for replacement because parts are missing...JMO:tb-wink:

I have tons of Kato trip pins if you really want tham. I don't put them in my Amtrak equipment and I use MT on all my freight locos.
