My two most recent acquisitions have been a Bachmann 2-6-2 for the Christmas layout and a Kato GG1 for Christmas.

I got a couple of Bachmann GE 44T. Rio Grande and Army 'flavored'. They run pretty good... not real good low speed control in DC though. They do look great... and its amazing how B'mann managed to put a decoder in these.

Now the bad news... I also got a Model Power Streamlined Pacific. I've seen ducks waddle less than this thing does. I have no-one but myself to blame that I don't learn from past experiences. DON"T BUY A STEAMER WITHOUT FIRST TRYING IT OUT AT THE LHS... and that goes double for MP products. BTW... It is a Santa Fe version which looks reasonably close to the Valley Flyer prototype. Okay... reasonably close means it has a four wheel pilot truck... six drivers and a two wheel trailing truck... in other words it fits the definition of a 'Pacific Class'. It also happens to be painted similar to the Valley Flyer prototype... Yep... Silver & Black with red, white & yellow Santa Fe graphics... I have no idea whether it is accurate... but it will look nice sitting around doing nothing.

Why did I buy it you ask?
Well... I am a collector [that's spelled & pronounced... MASSOCHIST]
    :D

thanks Toolman, I also added BLMA Brass Pilot Plate, MU Hoses and Cut Levers.
Changed the Kato Couplers out for MT 1015's. Done now; no weathering for this loco.

    My Engines

I've purchases these engines off of ebay or in stores over the last 6 weeks. Most of these engines will be "Cotton Belt"ed BTW, Ebay is EVIL!!!! I spent too much money there and now I have to wait to get started on my layout again..lol

An interesting dichotomy: a new chassis Japanese D51 2-8-2 and a Jersey Central FM H15-44.
