This past weekend was the Feather River/Zephyr charter roundtrip between Emeryville and Portola, CA (in conjunction with "Railroad Days" in Portola) - 600 rail fans rode a 15-car train through the Feather River Canyon.

All were privately-owned cars, 3 were California Zephyr cars - Silver Solarium, Silver Lariat, and Silver Rapids.

The pup foxes were cute but I didn't see any trains when I clicked on the Zen folders.

Wish I could have been at the round-up. Sounds like there was plenty for railroading for all to enjoy.

Bob, yeah, those fox pups are cute! I did a search on "Allen Hirsch" from that page, and it brought up links to his albums.

hmmm -I've never had that happen before. Two of the links still go to the right page; the others ask for a log-in. Sorry 'bout that.

I should add: Two Amtrak locomotives pulled the train to Portola, but on the return, they added the WP 2001 locomotive from the WP Museum as the "ceremonial head" of the train to Oroville from Portola (as shown in several images in the en route folder).

2001 was the very first production GP20, retired from service in 1985, and it's one of the "showcase locomotives" at the WP RR Museum.

It was mu'd and operating, etc? Looks sharp. There is so much lacking in today's paint schemes....

Those links are really funky. Takes a bit of fiddling to get to your albums.
