I have about 10 or so Intermountain single door boxcars where the doors keep falling off during running and handling. After getting tired of looking for them on the floor and inside tunnels, I finally decided to just cement them all shut.

However since I hate doing things that are irreversable and since I never know if I'm going to want to have them open sometime to show off some really cool looking load or something, I decided to glue them shut using Elmer's Rubber Cement. So far, so good. It holds relatively wel, isn't attacking the plastic and if I want to open them, the rubber cement gives pretty easily.

Just thought I'd pass it along...

Blue painter's tape. Don't laugh. It works.

Or a little of Aleene's tacky glue (at craft/hobby stores).

Or any tape you have laying around. It was electrical tape in my case.

I second this motion. It's great. Comes off completely if you want the door to be open.

All my Intermountain boxcars get 1) more weight! and 2) Aileen's tacky glue.

    Beeswax should do the trick.
