Hey guys I need help speed matching. I have two athearn f45 one with tsunami and the other with a standard digitrax, I aslo have an intermountain sd45-2 with just a standard digitrax board and they run at different speeds. Is there an easy way to fix this I do have acess to a computer with JMRI and a programing track. Thanks.
Well I am not too sure what Tsunami's are in your F45 units from Athearn. The decoders in the Athearn's are a striped down version of a Tsunami. That being said, the original Tsunami's do not speed match well with someone else’s decoder. If the Athearn unit with sound will support the speed table you can change the speed there and try to match the Digitrax decoder. Pick one unit get to run like you want- then try to match with the other unit. You might what to change the decoder in the non sound unit to the new non sound decoders that Soundtraxx has that will speed match with the Tsunami's.
Hi, I gave a full procedure to doing this in a threadh a little while back See: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=119369 Hope it helps
I have had good success in speed matching an Athearn F45 with a Tsunami sound decoder and an Atlas SD24 with a non-sound Digitrax decoder by using a speed table in the F45. For the F45, set CV29=18 and CV25=2 and then adjust CV66 and CV 95. I ended setting these to 58. CV3 and CV4 were set at 30. For the SD24 I used CV2=50, CV6=150, CV5=255, CV3=5, and CV4=5. Hope this helps.
Here is another thread http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=124006 This link may be of some help. http://www.tonystrains.com/technews/loconews/loco_speed_matching_easy.htm Gary
