Mike, no joke...and I will have to 3 times (at least) I did for sure get a table btw. Setup tonight...still have to price/organize some stuff in the am but I'm all in. See ya around 10.
Ya'll enjoy the FW show...this might be the "swan song" due to parking costs and fewer vendors which equal less gate reciepts. Word is that the show might be coming to Arlington. Keep your ears to the rail. Woodie
SO.............does anybody have a report on this show? Since I no longer live in north Texas, I'm unable to get down there to attend. I still have several model RR buddies from NE Texas who go to this show.
Fort Worth Train Show report Bob, I have been attending the Fort Worth train show for over 25 years and this year was the worst ever. The council had to loose money on the event this year. I drove into the parking area on Sunday, about the time the doors opened. where normally there is hundreds of cars, there were maybe 25. The show was on Halloween weekend. The Texas Rangers were playing at home. The Cowboys were playing at home. There was an Air Show nearby. They usually have the show in mid November, but they changed the date and many of my railroad buddies had no idea, it was in October. A Houston vendor upon arrival, tried to get in and was refused into the area until 3 pm, discusted, he returned to Houston without setting up. Believe me, they need all the vendors they can get. I sure hope the Plano Show is better, this year.
IIRC, this show was held in mid-November for years, and had good turnout. Last year they had to change to December (right after the OKC Train Show). Perhaps they had to change dates this year because someone else got the usual slot. If it's a problem with getting proper dates, the NTC needs to seriously consider another venue. The question is, where? Sounds like the city is jerking the Council around pertty good. Why they would mess with an obvious crowd-drawing event is beyond me. mad:
Well, I had a table set up at the show both days, and I have to say I got a pretty different view of it....ESPECIALLY considering all the events that were referenced. All of the tables sold out...mine was third from last left and the other two were taken soon thereafter. Attendance might not have been record-setting, but there were some pretty busy times, especially Sunday. I've always been curious about the format and dates of the council shows, but they are GREAT for the local clubs, financially speaking.
