Alright Tom you did it!!! Sure would like to see one of those GE Center Cabs and a couple of PE water cars bringing down the water from Arrowhead. Aw the good ol days. Thanks for the inspiration. Joe
Is that a Chicago PCC in N scale? Where did you get it? And if you made it, well done, Lad! <lv4142003>
Well, I stripped and repainted this. Not bad for a first attempt. Never used my airbrush before, never printed my own decals before, either. I actually made two sets.
WOW! I've never seen anyone model Metro Rail before! AWESOME! I used to work in Pasadena and so I rode the Red and Gold Lines to work every day. I remember when the silver/grey Breda cars entered service.:thumbs_up::thumbs_up: FYI, if you want prototypical lettering for the cars, LA Metro uses a font called FF Scala Sans for their system logo and signage. What's the pink LRV for?
Yes, that is a Green Hornet and I did make it. Thanks! If you look closely you can see how the two PCC bodies are spliced together. Bachmann used two different color plastics over the years, giving the patchy body color. I am not very good at painting as you can see if you examine the Chicago Surface Lines cars. So, neither the CSL or CTA paint job has been applied. The CSLs are made from Bachmann Brills. A Blue Goose is somewhere in the future. I made most of the poles I use. This is before Miniatures By Eric came out with his. For anyone interested, there is a Yahoo group that runs N scale under wire. They are descended from the original N-Cat guys. nscaletraction : Nscaletraction Join us, running under the wire. It is not as difficult as you imagine. There is modern equipment as well as the trains of the past, light and heavy equipment. N scale third railers are welcome.
The pink is the before picture. I finally found a picture of the cars in operation - in a folder on the wife's computer!
I used some old bridge pieces, it would be better if I used some brass X bridge stuff. The poles are Bachman. I'm going to try some overhead wire soon. Thanx for posting some cool pics guys!
Plastic and live overhead do not mix. The plastic melts when soldering wires together and it cannot take the tension needed to keep the wire taught.
