    Kato V11 is 7' 11/16" long by 4' 2/16" wide.

Also, I was going to head down to the Sunset Route section between Maricopa and Casa Grande today but ran out of time!

    Layout Progress as of 12/27/10

Got some work on the layout done over the Christmas break. Decided to just build the layout on the base boards and not on the cross sections like I intended to. Also worked on the first stage of scenery on the West Benson side of layout.

This is where I was originally going to put a small yard in but decided to make a small Intermodal Facility after being inspired by the Rochelle Intermodal N Scale Bend Track modular layout.

After the work is done UP Manifest train MHOWCQ gets the clear to head west with my new UP ES44AC leading.

It's looking really great. I can't wait to see the continued progress of it.

I did manage a trip along the Sunset Route from Casa Grande to Tucson about a week ago. In Tucson I found a Greenbrier Rail Services repair location. Without trespassing, I saw a small gate house/office, a covered car repair area, and a dirt area with several retired well cars, trucks and wheels, and various rusty parts. It seemed like a neat area to include on a layout. One track came from the Tucson yard into the location and it looked like they have a 44 ton switcher to switch their repair tracks. (I took some pictures but it was late in the day and the lighting was not the best.)

I also drove by the Tucson Yard. Not too many years ago I was able to drive in and take pictures and no one said a word. Now there are no trspassing signs, security cameras, locked gates, etc. I saw a couple of Union Pacific passenger cars, an old PFE reefer being used as a storage shed and EVERY engine was Union Pacific.

    Change of Plans

Something about CSX just has me coming back...
After looking at Bruce's CSX Shenandoah Division I couldn't resist.

Welcome to CSX Salem Division in N scale. This is a photo freelanced table layout that is based on Bruce Faulkner's fictitious CSX Shenandoah Division through Western Virginia and North Carolina. This is a busy coal and freight route is shaped in the form of a "Y" and is based in the late 1980s to early 1990s era. One leg of the "Y" connects Baltimore to Salem, VA where it joins the other leg of the "Y" from Grafton, WV. Then to Winston-Salem, NC and Wadesboro, NC.
