I have six FVM GEVOs and love that simple decoder installation.

My only gripe (same as for my Kato SD70ACe's) is the dim head/ditch lights.

Will anyone else join me in begging Matt to use brighter, white LEDs in the GP60Ms?

Excellent suggestion! Dim or yellow/green looking lights detract from an engine's appearance.

Maybe everyone that would like to see different LED's should E-mail Matt and let him know. I doubt if he will have time to search every board for suggestions, With all the new stuff he's announced.:tb-biggrin:

Am I missing something? When did FVM announce they were making GP60Ms?

Only a few days ago. :)

Here's the original thread on it's release announcement.

Thanks! I don't even model AT/BN SF but I still want one! and the B-unit too!

    Would FVM's GP60M B unit be the first non-streamlined mass-produced B-unit in N scale?

If they put in white LEDs then they'll probably make the light pipes of tinted plastic like Kato did with the ACes...a yellow LED is easy to fix - but those light pipes are killers...

looks like models released after the ACEs do not use the yellow tinted pipes so hopefully that will end that short run experiment by KATO.

    Jim,

Like you, I've changed a few FVM GEVO LED's out but you are right that those yellow light pipes in the SD70ACe's are hard to work around. I wonder if painting the pipe ends black and running some sort of fiber optic along the pipe and then to the ditchlight might be possible. Just a wild thought I had while driving this morning.

Had a thought so went to Kato's parts page for the ACe - oh, well, the light tubes are clearly tinted...

Heck, all we need to do is find some SMT LEDs in that horrendous blue white and all will be well...
