...of course for John Bartelotto and his fantastic new layout.
This loco is based on Serails shell, Searails etched details. MTL GP35 chassis and lots of other goodies.
For me it's the first closer contact with a Searails shell, I have one in my drawer for a while, but never really touched it. Not because I don't want, just lack of time.
The shell is made in a rapid prototype process. In this case I decided to remove most of the details on the shell and repalcing them with the etched parts or other details. Also I decided to smoothen the surface as much as possible to improve the apperance.
    Follwing conversions/kitbashes apply:
    - removing most of the details
    - smoothing surface, rounding front and rear hood edges
    - new airtanks and tank
    - larger window openings
    - new steam generator stack
    - airhorn incl. bracket
    - snowplows removed, front closed and detailed
    - double head lights
    - Alco style truck sides (casted from a Hallmark Turbine truck)
    - attaching other, small details
    - cuystom paint, decalks and weathering

So quiet an extensive job, I must say...

I'm a big Alco fan, this is a very difficult model, and it looks just right. Congratulations.

    Lajos,

Very much looking forward to your RS1 loco! Maybe one in LIRR colors? ;)

Speaking of this awesome RS3 loco, thus of Searails, it reminds me that Searails had a U18B shell on schedule a while ago. However, when wandering on Searails' website I don't see anymore mention of that shell? Has anyone here any idea?
