Does anyone else have this set? It is the double track super elevated curve set. I have one and really like it but it is very picky with my cars and locos. I have big problems with anything with bodymount couplers staying on the track and certian locomotives derail constintly. I do set it up on carpet and mabey that is part or the problem but I defintly do not have as many problems with the non-superelevated track I have.

    OHhhhhhhhhh...I just cant help myself....:tb-biggrin:

Kato Unitrack is 'bulletproof"...to suggest otherwise is blasphemous !!! It absolutely HAS to be your fault ! I suggest picking all your trains and track up...put them in a box...hide them in the back of a closet...and forget you ever thought you could have fun !!

    Now...all kidding aside....

I would think some deeper pile carpet...plus the weight of the trains at any certain point...may 'tweak' even unitrack somewhat. Enough to perhaps throw everything off. Got a tile floor you can temporarily set it up on...to see if the problem continues? Would eliminate the carpet as a villian.

    JMO of course. :tb-wink:

Some carpet can be an issue..

Mine isn't very think but if I run it from room to room.. The floors are slightly uneven (century old house) it uncouples every train..

First off, George, that's not funny! You keep bashing my Unitrack and it may just hurt my feelings lol.

All kidding aside I have the V11 track set and mine is attached permanently to a sheet of plywood and I have never had any issues with it. Just out of curiosity was it a Fox Valley Models loco that derails? I have heard that they don't like Unitrack but every one I have ever had ran fine on mine. I would say it's most likely the carpet that's doing it.

I have a V11 set and have only used it a few times set up on a table. Soft carpet certanly could be a problem. For the 15" inner and 16 3/4" outer the degree of superelivation is too much. Also this radius is too tight for long cars with body mounted couplers. I decided to ditch the unitrack in favor of ME code 55 concrete tie track and use 24" radius curves with easements and slight superelavation.

I'm using the superelevated set (and in an S-curve configuration) and it seems to work fine. I don't have any problem with body-mount couplers. For instance, the MT heavyweights work well, even through the reverse curve.

I was able to remove the track from Kato double track viaduct pieces and install the dual track superelevated parts in place of that. It's in a semi-permanent setup.

I really like the look of the supervelevation, and even though the ties are supposed to be concrete, they have ballast and look lots better than the concrete viaduct track.
Some weathering would make it even better.

Well I changed the track arangement a little bit and found a couple of uni-trak joiners that were screwy and eveything seems to work fine. As for the body mounts I found as long as two cars with body mounts are not right next to each other in the train they work fine also.
